Haunted Mansion WRONG!

I was just thinking about this. If you all recall in the stretching room, as Master Gracey's body falls toward guests, you hear his scream get more low pitched as he nears you. Well, that isn't right. That is the sound someone would make if they were falling away from you. If someone is falling on top of you, the voice gets more high pitched and louder as it nears you. Disney Imagineers need to study their doppler effect more!

This is because he is hanging from a noose, not falling on you. Also, it's a woman screaming, not Gracey. As for the effect, I guess you're right. I never really noticed that.

It falls? I thought it was just hanging there? But I see your point if that's the case. I thought it was just an extra scream just thrown in like in the attic and the graveyard scenes. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Let's not even start that debate again. Be warned. Some people are very protective of this ride and it's story or lack thereof.

As for the scream, I only ever heard the woman's scream... which I believe is the scream in reaction to SEEING the hanging man...hmmmm..

I swear, I freaked out so badly the first time that I saw the hanging body. It was last April and I was in Florida for a band trip. A group of me and my friends really like to psyche ourselves out for the Haunted Mansion and none of us had ever seen the body before. We didn't even look up initially but then somebody pointed up and we looked up. I felt so nauseas when I saw it, I thought it was real. Wow, quite an experience. And honestly, I was really freaked out for the rest of the ride. The Haunted Mansion is incredible when you psyche yourself out. Try it if you never have!

not starting a debate. just commenting on the earlier posts - that it does not appear that the woman's scream is coming from the guy hanging by the rafters.

but if the woman's scream is in reaction to the seeing the hanging man - then what is the 'thud' for?

Scream = woman (like one of he guests in the room screames at the sight of the body)
Ghost Host = Master Gracey
Hanging Body = just there hanging, I do beleive there is a string or something to give it a swaying effect

These two references are from The Haunted Mansion - From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies by Jason Surrell:

(1) p. 54, "Of course, there's always my way," he concludes as lightning flashes to reveal a corpse dangling from a hangman's noose in the cupola high above. The lights wink out, and a shrill scream fills the air."

(2) p. 54, "The ceiling is a theatrical scrim, a piece of fabric that is opaque when lit from the front (and painted to look like the chamber's ceiling) and translucent when lit from behind, in this case by 'lightning,' revealing the decaying corpse of the Ghost Host hanging from previously unseen rafters."

I thought that was supposed to mean that someone had taken "his way out" and killed themself to escape the horror.

Or I must just have a twisted mind that came up with that. ;)

Of course their's always MY WAY. Flash to show his decomposing corpse.

"His way" being hanging, "his way" because he is the one hanging.

I'm actually surprised by how few get that.
