Haunted Mansion restaurant and shop...............

I think that an eatery would be lovely. I can just see it now, with dim lighting and spooky accents. I don't think a shop would be needed because they only really offter Jack Skellington merchandise from what I remember.

Hey guys.........When my Wife and I go to WDW, we are always saddened to see only a kiosk for merchandise outside of the HM. We do get some items from there but eventually go to other shops and even the Art store in DD. I would think that as popular as the HM is, there would be a shop and not a kiosk. Oh well, I can wish. Also, I would think a restaurant would be a no brainer and a major hit. There are endless ideas I have for a menu, the setup, the whole atmosFEAR, etc. What do you guys think about a shop instead of a kiosk AND a restaurant?

There are some who would be disappointed at seeing ANY kind of a shop after immediately exiting a ride. I am not one of those people. That said, I agree - a cart seems so meager. And a restaurant would be AMAZING.

I do understand not wanting to have a store right after exiting the ride as it would ruin the look of the HM itself. I do want a shop over a kiosk so bad that I will pretty much accept it anywhere they put it.

There is room directly next to where the exit for the ride is where there new bathrooms are and also a little to the, I think, north of that. they always could have restructured the exit and made it possibly longer so the store would be where exit is now then exit would be where that cart and the other store are.

Haunted Mansion is my favorite! It has the best special effects. I love it. And I love the jack skeleton "coffin cake." If they had a HM restaurant, I would go to it for every meal, every day I was there! Great idea. The servers could act a little "off" and say funny stuff like "I have to inform that if any of your party are running late, they are at risk of only receiving the cold shoulder. Otherwise, what kinds of poisons may I find for the rest of you?" They could compete with the Jungle Cruise for best jokes of the month/year. They could have ghost special effects in the restaurant like a ghost toy train that goes through the rooms near the top of the wall & ceiling, and have special effects ghost mirrors in the waiting area. Oooh, I hope they do it one day.

I think the idea of a restaurant alone deserves an entire thread. I'm counting on you, internet, to find it because I'm sure it already exists. (And I'm far too lazy to look it up)

I agree! They should have an actual store filled with halloween and haunted mansion stuff! A themed restaurant would be great too, but I doubt it is going to happen

With all the jokes I've ever heard about an attraction ending with a gift shop, this is an idea I love. Put the restaurant over on TSI facing HM.

Or the Grim Grilling Ghost :p

OOOH...and give Dr. Facilier a presence in the Mansion! Perhaps some of his Loa masks in Leota's seance room and a Dr. Facilier Tarot Card......

No!! Not in the Magic Kingdom's Mansion, as Facilier was not around in Colonial America. o_O DL would be a better fit... given that the Mansion is in New Orleans' Square there... but still, he's not needed in the Mansion!

I'm a big fan of the HM and have bought more than a little HM stuff over the years. Never wished for a store connected to the ride.

I always appreciate the fact that we are not dumped into a gift shop when exiting this ride. I think attractions that end in gift shop are tacky. Dnt want to see that in the HM. Wouldn't mind a HM store at DTD...or a corner in the WoD store.

Having a creepy store would be excellent. They could stick the Jack stuff, HM stuff, Villains, all kind SPF stuff in it. :)

The store at the end of Pirates of Carribean has Jack Skellington merchandise on the left hand side right before the hallway leading to the bathrooms. Looked out of place there to me. Or maybe someone got confused with Jack Skellington and Capt Jack and just never changed it.
On one recent trip, we saw a bunch of Special Agent Oso plush mixed in randomly at the Pooh store at the exit to the ride in Fantasyland (100 Acre Goods?). We called it "the yellow bear store".

A restaurant would be a great addition. The theme would be incredible. They could really pull off some really creative and cool things. As for placement, anywhere in Liberty Square would work. Perhaps they could replace the Columbia Harbour House with it. I'd eat there for sure :)

Not sure I would agree with the need for a restaurant. At DL they kind of try and tie the food at French Market into the Haunted Mansion, at least around Halloween. I recall they had some deserts that looked like little coffins with a jack-skeleton tombstone... And as cool as they looked they tasted so bad not even my kids could eat them... So I would rather they just try to make some good food rather than tie it into an attraction... I don't think they can do both.

Lets hope. The release date was supposed to be 2012 according to Del Toro at comic con. I havent heard any new updates.
I was starting to think it was dead in the water the last time I looked into it. Hadn't heard anything new since then. A better movie would be great.
