Haunted Mansion Queue

Just a quick question. I haven't been back to the MK since they put in the new interactive queue @ the HM. I'm just wondering if there is another queue that you can go through to board the ride that avoids having to go through the interactive queue? TIA!

We always avoid the new interactive queue and take the route to the right. Just something about bubbles and an obnoxious poetess don't mix well with the eerie ambience that makes this attraction great.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I am looking forward to avoiding the interactive queue. It just ruins the experience for me, being a diehard HM fan. :)

I would prefer that no one insult Poetess Prudence Pock on my watch.

If only average guests understood how to speak to the deceased...

The queue DOES NOT ruin the experience or atmosphere of the attraction at all.
For some diehard HM fans and purists, it does. I have seen it on videos and I know people that have experienced it that said it kind of takes away from it. Everyone has a different opinion. Different Strokes for different folks, plus I don't go to WDW to play with stuff when I can be going through a regular line to a ride.

For my part, I think the elements of the new queue are cleverly done. But the whole mess just clutters up the entrance dreadfully. There is truth in the saying "less is more". The relative spareness of the Mansion's original queue gave you a feeling of anticipation; walking up the pathway, hearing the howling dog in the background, reading the amusing epitaphs on the headstones, watching to see if Leota's grave marker really does blink at you, hinted at the shivery delights to come. Plus it made the attraction seem more like a real house. The new queue makes it seem like part of a carnival, compete with sideshow. Overall, I really wish it wasn't there. Plus I don't get what the statues of the twins and so on are even for. They don't make noise or light up or blow bubbles, and they're not shown or referred to in the interior of the Mansion, so what's the point?

I strongly agree here. I consider myself a purist and find the new interactive queue a waste of money had they added a few more graves etc. minus the flash and interactivity, I wouldn't much have a problem with the additions, But with all the noise and a simple minded puzzle games, I tend to turn up my nose at such things. I hoping one day all the interactivity stuff just breaks down and become inoperable, leaving it a silent area that symbolizes an actual graveyard.

Yep. I usually go through the interactive once a trip - usually when the line is low. Then I use the regular line throughout the rest of the time. It's a cool queue to see - but not every ride.

Sure - if you forget that the entire start of the attraction is supposed to be eeire and spooky/scarey. People are suposed to be uncertain and worried at the start of the attraction. By bringing in interactivity, you say 'oh, don't worry suzzy, its all ok.. see, here touch.. play.. see its all just fun'.. and the cartoony stuff. The opening is no longer dark and twisted.. it's lighthearted comedy. That completely clashes with the start of the attraction and the mood entering the mansion.

The swing from dark to lighthearted isn't supposed to be until the closing acts of the attraction. Now they screwed it up by mixing that in up front.

I like the interactive queue because it gives us a place to hide at the end of the night to ensure we're the last ones on!
