Haunted Mansion Peppers Ghost- Hitch Hiking Ghosts

I always wondered how they do the ghosts at the end it always confused me i know they use peppers ghost like they do in most of the ride but how do the ghost sit next to u!

When you're looking at the mirror.. it's actually a two way mirror... the hitchhikers are behind the mirror and are illuminated so that you can see them through the mirror... as well as see yourself.
