I thought the chess pieces were real? The only one missing from the top was the knight considering it is always nighttime in the attraction.

Just to let you 'Keys of the Kingdom' tour-fans know...

Depending on the guide you have, you might not be getting a true story. Both in Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise, the truth might be skewed a little bit.

For instance. They love to say that many famous comedians got their start by working the Jungle Cruise. False.

And there are about 5 stories going around about the 'truth' behind haunted mansion. I'm familiar with the story of Gracey being one of the few houses on the land that was purchased by Walt Disney for the park, and how there was a story of a girl named Constance who was beautiful and the attraction of many men in the town. In order to gain her attention, Gracey flashed around his money to her. They did form a relationship. Gracey went to visit Leota, a psychic in town, who said they would ultimately end up getting married but that Graceys future was dark, and unforeseen.

Being precautious, Gracey asked for Leotas services again and had her enchant his house so that there would be no bad spirits/haunts... and charm his house. However, Leota was beginning to fall in love with Gracey. While she was there charming the Manor, she went up to the attic and invited Constance to join her. Suggesting for Constance to look out the attic window, Leota pushed her to her death. Leota then called up Gracey, and pointed to the gruesome scene. So overcome with grief, Gracey hung himself.

.. Or something like that. =]

So with that said, who is the murderous bride? Is it a ghostly version of Constance?

Not sure where I found these online, but they are two of my favorites:
  • In the ballroom scene, if you look down on the floor of the balcony the doombuggies are traveling thru, halfway through the scene you will see a patch of light and the shadows of two pairs of legs swinging as if there are two people sitting on a ledge above you.
  • In the scene with the ghost piano player, pay close attention to what's going on outside. Notice the direction the wind is blowing the tree compared to the direction the clouds are moving. . .

Did you know that in the stretching room in the MK's Haunted Mansion they raise the ceiling, giving the illusion that the walls and the portraits are stretching, while in Dl there is and elevator that lowers the guests off of Disneyland property.

The stretching rooms in DL are actual elevators - and they lower you to the level of the hallway that goes under the train tracks and to the show building, which is outside the train loop of the park. It's not 'off Disneyland property' - simply outside the train loop. And the elevators only go up and down, it's the hallway that leads you to the show building :)
