So...any more news on Guillermo Del Toro's Haunted Mansion reboot movie?

I haven't heard anything about it since his announcement at SDCC 2010.

I hope he comes back to the Mansion. That would be awesome. If they do bring him back, I hope they bring him back in both parks, not just Disneyland.

In a recent interview he said they are still looking for someone to polish the script It seems he is debating whether or not he wants to direct the film but he for sure wants to produce it. They are writing up another draft, at the rate things are going this film may not come to fruition till 2017. Which sucks because del toro really wants to include the Hatbox ghost and make him a pivotal character. Meaning a bankable character and promotion for Disney so his chances of haunting the mansion again would increase drastically.

You all know the hat box ghost was never actually seen by the general public right? It disappeared when the haunted mansion opened at Disneyland. They said the effect just did not work right, due to the lighting, and how fast the doom buggies moved past him.

I don't think this is true, but you could be right. I think Hatbox Ghost stayed around long enough to be seen, but he/she was taken out shortly after Mansion opened in the sixties. He appeared in the attic scene, where the bride now is. Even if he really was never seen by guests, it's still cool and somewhat mysterious, which is why DL fans are so obsessed with it.

He never actually appeared or was seen in Magic Kingdom's Mansion. That's definitely true.

I'm almost positive he was not seen by the public. And yes, he was in attic where the bride is now. The bride was going to be in the opposite corner.....I believe....

Even if the figure did not make it past the official grand opening, the character most certainly did not disappear. As the video shows, the Hatbox Ghost was featured on publicity materials and merchandise even after his removal from the attraction.
