Has the audition process gotten more diffucult?

I've been told that Disney has kind of beefed up character auditions a bit since they're looking for more skilled parade/show performers since they've added more shows and such across property. Is this true? I auditioned about two years ago and it was a rather easy routine. I wasn't pulled to the advanced/ballet combination but I was still offered a role and given a pretty decent color code. I'm hoping this time around to get a chance at the advanced combination since I do have a lot of dance experiance, I'm just a bit of a flake when it comes to learning routines. Is there anyone who's auditioned in the past and then again recently who can give me some perspective on any changes in the process? Also is there much difference between the onsite auditions and the offsite ones? My original audition two years ago was in Atlanta, I was auditioning for the college program but it was an open audition with people auditioning for part-time and full-time roles as well.

Well, I've only auditioned once offsite (and 3 times on). But there was a difference. The offsite audition was a full audition (both dance and animation). However, at the onsite ones it was just a dance part before they made a cut (and I always got cut:(). The offsite audition was not too bad.

Hm, yeah at my offsite audition we did the dance routine directly into the animation, they were combined and then some people were pulled into a second dance audition. I'm hoping I can be un-flakey enough to make it past the dance audition and into animation since I'm not worried about that part after having been a character performer for a year, if I suck at animation after all this time it would be a pretty bad sign! Was the dance section the ballet combo I hear people talk about or was it just the upbeat peppy little combo that I'm thinking of from my offsite audition?

That's a relief, I'm pretty sure I can make it past that one! I had 16 years of dance lessons and danced at the competition level in junior high and highschool, but I was always that kid on the end who was a beat behind everyone else and had to practice super hard just to keep up, so even though I know I have the experiance and even the technique, I get nervous about these things because there's a pretty good chance I'll be that idiot that's on the wrong foot the whole time.
But I keep telling myself that I've done it before, not to mention I'm mouse height so I should have a good chance, but I don't want to be over confident and end up dissapointed.

If you are 18 or over with that dance training you might want to consider the Open Call audition for Equity roles like B&B, Pioneer Hall or other higher paying positions.

Just a thought, I worked characters for years and enjoyed every minute so you may enjoy that too.

I'm not terribly interested in the dance roles, I loved being a character and would really love to get back into it, plus I'm on the short and Disney doesn't take many shorter equity dancers. That I'm a pretty mediocre dancer and not ashamed to admit it! I just want a decent color code so I can do some shows or parades as a character and eventually after I have seniority I'm really interested in being statused to special events which is pretty decent money in comparison to regular characters.
