Has Disney gone to far?

oK #1 The more you stay the less you pay, it's called length of stay pass..duh, who pays a one day.#2 universal is the same amount for a day because they matched disney, so why is disney the only one being attacked?? #3 comparing disney to six flags really!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!! It may be cheap to pay at the door but they make sure to nickel and dime you all day! I don't now ow other six flags are but the one in new England is terrible!! 1st of all you can't bring anything in, 2nd there are no cubbies at rides and you cannot bring anything on them, so you must be forced to pay for a locker for the day, or get one for a couple of hrs. When those hrs are up the locker just opens!! They don't have a meal pan, and the refillable mug has a $1 refill fee after I payed $12!!! Ill take disney thanks and all the people that think it's to much well thats one less person in the park!

I live in Connecticut and do not go to Six Flags New England anymore because of the ridiculous items you mentioned. $15 to park your car. The locker thing were if you get one it is $14 - $22 I am hearing. $3 or $3.50 for a drink. Food prices are worse than Disney and will not allow you to just get a fry or just a hamburger. Must get combo. Used to charge for tubes for water park.

Have not gone in 2-3 years so could be slightly different now but HOLY HORRORS BATMAN they are nuts there.

Interesting seeing the various perspectives...

I've always thought a Disney vacation was more for upper-middle to upper class families. I've never thought Disney priced their vacations so that the "average" family could afford it. That's been my perception.

As someone mentioned, they raised the price over 30% over the past five years. Yet their average attendance is up several percentage points over the same time. Obviously, enough people are finding the value in a Disney vacation despite the increases.

I just became an annual passholder this year and have gone to WDW every 3 weeks or so with my family (we live in Tampa). It continues to amaze me just how many people are there. Just amazing.

As far as "nobody" buying one-day passes... Each time my parents visit, we only go one day. They pay the one day entry fee. About $170 after taxes for the two of them... but worth it to see their grand daughters having fun. Plus, they see the quality and value of a Disney park.

All in all, when enough people find value elsewhere, the prices at Disney will go down... I don't think that's happening even with these increases.

The only thing Disney has to compete with these regional parks is themeing. If you took the themeing away from the rides, people wouldn't even bother going. Your average regional park has more rides than the Magic Kingdom, and they don't charge $82.
.....

I am not sure I understand your point so maybe my reponse is off base: You are way oversimplifying to say the only difference is "themeing" as if themeing comes in a box. To say "if you took the theming away" is also an irrelevant argument... how...remove planters? shut off the music? knock down the space mountain building and just leave the rollercoaster track?

But, my bottom-line response, pricing aside, I won't go to any standard local Amusement Park, period... at any price (and forget carnivals; you couldn't pay me to go). So the price "difference" becomes irrelevant at a certain point too.
