We were unable to book a Disney Hotel room due to they were all sold out for the dates 12/7/08 to 12/12/08 and had to settle for a non-Disney room at The Royal Plaza in the Downtown Disney area. Has anyone stayed there before and how was the shuttle system? We will keep trying for a Disney room prior to our departure!!!:veryconfu

Has anyone stayed at the Royal Plaza?

My husband had meetings there last Sept. so we all went to Disney while he worked. I was really impressed by how nice the rooms were there. We were in the tower over looking DTD. The rooms were big and the bathrooms were too, so that was nice. I would actually stay there again, even thought I am a HUGE fan of staying at a Disney resort.
The only thing bad about it was the shuttle. I believe it is MEARS buses that shuttle to all of the DTD area hotels. They also go to each park, in one run. For example, it took my husband over an hour to meet us at Epcot one afternoon due to the bus going to Animal Kingdon & Magic Kingdom proir to Epcot. It was crazy. We drove in everyday and we had no problem at all. I actually found it to be fun.
Another thing, we didn't have our tickets prior to arriving and when I purchased them at Royal Plaza, they gave me a voucher to take to the TTC to get my tickets. I had rather have done that all at one time, but it was not that big of a deal.
Have a great vacation, no matter where you end up staying!!:wave:
