Has anyone stayed at the Grosvenor Resort?

Has anyone stayed at the Grosvenor Resort? I have heard good and bad things about this place. Bad being that it was called the Dutch Inn or something like that and that it got so nasty that disney booted the operators. The good is the location, just a block from downtown Disney. Any feedback about this place would be helpful. Thanks

My sister did, and said it was "just okay." She said the decor and theming were a little strange (some sort of Sherlock Holmes motif, IIRC). IMHO, the Royal Plaza ain't bad if you can get a discount, and don't mind eating elsewhere. Hope this helps.

I stayed there and it seemed very run down, think about this, you can get a room at a moderate resort on property for about the same price. The Grosvenor is also a large conference facility, if you stay when a large conference is going on parking can be a nightmare. Hope this helps.

Definately try to stay at one of the Disney resorts. The value (and sometimes moderate) resorts are about the same price. They will give you much better accomadations and ammenities.

We thought it was ok. We got 3 nights @ $79.00 a night for a summer special. We were in the tower on about the 7 floor. The little snack shop was nothing to brag about. The location was decent to DD. The pools were just ok. The overall themeing was just kind of lacking. Nothing bad as far as service. We finished off the trip at the Royal Plaza and enjoyed that much more. More to offer I thought. But the price also increased. I say do your homework and stay on-sight. Just my random thoughts.

Parking is a nightmare at the Grosvenor! Ever since it was built, cars are allover the lawn etc. all the time. BV Palace is MUCH nicer, but I would still stay in a Disney Resort anyday.

My wife and I stayed there in September of 2000. The place was okay, but we expected more. The location was great as far as it being on Disney property, but we had a room with an outside entrance, but facing the pool, so it was cool. The pools and the hot tub where decent.

But the best part of the hotel was the price that we paid. We where lucky enough to get our room for $35.00 per night through priceline.com and stayed there for a week. Of course when we made our offer we had no idea what hotel we could get, so we feel that we definatly got our monies worth.:king:
