Has anyone run into friends at WDW?

A few years ago, while on our first trip together, my husband ran into a couple of the high school boys on his tennis team. We were walking into Epcot and trying to hurry to get a spot for Illuminations and they were walking right toward us.

They even went so far as to ask to sit with us!! And he let them!! Our first night there, the 4th of July, was spent with 4 high school boys!!

happy 1000th !!

But back to the topic at hand...

It seems that no matter how far you travel you will run into the very people you were trying to get away from !

It happened to us twice in one visit. Living in PA. I couldn't believe when we ran into another family we know from our small town here. One morning while having breakfast in the food court at POFQ there they were... just two tables away. We had no idea that we would be visitng at the same time. After talking several minutes we all went on our way. Two days later at Epcot while getting a Fast Pass for Test Track much to my amazement guess who we see again, same family. Talk about a "small world".

This may not really count, but last May my friend from High School and my other friend (and childhood neighbor) got married, and put off their Honeymoon till he finished school, in June. At the wedding he told me they were going to WDW and taking the cruise in June - and to make a long story short, we found out we'd both be at Port Orleans at the same time.

So, my brother and I hung out with them when they got there until they left for the cruise - it was a blast because neither of them had been there! We've actually scheduled a trip next June with them and another couple.

The first time we took our daughters to WDW, in 1998, I videotaped everything I could. While I was panning around Epcot my husband yelled over, "Hey Connie, get this guy!". He was shaking hands with a friend from our church and school. The chance meeting was captured on video and it's still fun to watch, especially since all the children were so young.

Wow! What great stories! This evening, my 13 yr old has told me that next week while we are down at WDW, one of his friends from school will be there for a day or two as well.:)

Well, not so much someone I know, but someone from my neck of the woods. I live in Prince Edward Island in Canada, and as my wife and I were walking out of tough to be a bug, we saw someone with a shrit on that said something about Nova Scotia Canada which is only about a 1.5 hr drive from here. We got to talking, and it turns out that his mother used to be the principal at the elementry school I went to in the small town I live in. To say how small the town was, the school I went to had a student population of about 150!

Thought that was pretty neat! :)

December 2004, I saw a former manager where I worked (not a nice guy, did not talk to him) at Cosmic Ray's. His whole family looked miserable--I felt so sorry for them. Same trip, saw a woman who I used to work with and whose husband poured the foundation for our house. They were too far away to talk to, but they are very nice people.

OT--I was on a plane going to Las Vegas, the woman next to me and I got to talking after take off. I asked her if she could see my town--turns out she was also from that town! She said she and her husband had good friends who lived a few houses down from us and they had all watched us build our house (we did it ourselves--it took 17 months).

OT--My husband and I ran into his SIL and niece at a rest area in Michigan. They were going to their vacation cottage and we were heading to Mackinac Island. I think the odds were improved because I was pregnant and we were stopping a LOT...

Well since we usually go for Mardi Gras, along with the rest of south Louisiana, we have seen many people we know. We ran into the same couple everyday for 3 days on year. We have made plans to meet with other people that are there at the same time. Even met people from our area or that knew other people we do. Yes, it is a small world after all!!!

OK, here's proof that it is a Small World.....

Last Aug I was swimming at the pool at the Dolphin, when I saw a couple that I swore looked familiar. Then I heard the gentleman speak and I was 99% sure I recognized them. You see.... the year before my DH and I had vacationed in Key West and had met some other nice couples in our B&B and I could swear this was one of them. I almost let it go, but knew it would drive me crazy later if I didn't ask. So..............

I asked the woman if by chance they had been in Key west the last Sept etc etc and YES, it was them! My DH wasn't at the pool but as soon as I described who we were she remembered us, called her DH over, then the rest of her family. I introduced the kids and we all had a good chuckle over meeting again....It really was a pretty amazing thing...It was also fun to catch up with them.:)

Anyway, not close friends but thought this should count!

Having travelled all the way from England, one night in Downtown Disney was about to take a picture looking down the strip from Planet H to HOB.
The back of someones head appeared in front of the shot.
I thought bloody inconsiderate and moved to get a better picture.
My wife said "isn't that your cousin".

Her and her husband were on the last night of their honeymoon, exactly 4 years after my wife and I made our honeymoon & first trip to DisneyWorld.
Back in England we live about 150 miles apart & only see each other occassionally. The last time had been at their wedding. The honeymoon had been a very late one as they'd spent a lot of money on buying a house.

We spent a brilliant night together and made sure they could both have a drink to celebrate,as they'd had to share driving up to that point.
The Aunts face when they took the honeymoon photos back home and they saw me & my wife in their pictures was apparently brilliant.

I have run into someone just about everytime we have went to Disney (Been there 13 times). We live in Ohio and here is the kicker, in a village of less than 5000 people. One time I ran into a pretty good friend at the time I was going up to get on the Train on Main Street and she was coming off the train. We passed each other said hello and went on our Merry way. We talked about it later and it was like we didn't realize we were in the Magic Kingdom and just did our quick hello to get to the next attraction.

While I was standing by my dad's car in the MGM parking lot, an SUV passed and someone stuck their head out the window and yelled out my name. It's a pretty uncommon name, so I knew it was directed at me.

Unfortunately, whoever was driving didn't slow down, so I didn't see who that was!

It's been fifteen years, and the mystery of that drive-by shoutout still perplexes me.

On our last trip to WDW (May '05), we ran into some friends from the town we used to live in at Animal Kingdom. Eight years ago we had traveled to WDW together at the same time of year. Our daughter and their daughter even posed for a picture in front of the Mickey garden head at the Magic Kngdom as they had done eight years ago. At the end of the week, we ran into a couple from the town we live in now at Pizza Planet at Disney - MGM. Their son goes to school with our daughter. It really is a small world after all.

We've been going to WDW since 1993; about 20 separate vacations in all so far. It's rare that we DON'T see someone from the UK that we know. But then maybe we know a lot of people, we've met acquaintances in New York and in Italy (Europe not EPCOT), also.
