I'm just curious if anyone has done this before? I want to hear your experience
I want to arrive a day before but I prefer not to spend an extra money for a hotel room.

The flight that I'm looking at will arrive at 5:15 (MCO). Does a red eye flight have a high cancellation/delay rate than a normal flight?

My biggest issue is the risk for my checked bags. We had the last flight out from Houston Intercontinental to MCO in January 2010. We arrived at the airport plenty early. 6 of us traveling, we had 9 checked bags (3 were golf clubs). Of 9 bags only 3 made it on our plane. The rest of our bags were sent on the first flight the following morning. We didn't receive them at our resort until late afternoon the following day. If your bags don't make it onboard with you I'd be worried about them making it to MCO early enough the next day to be transported out to the port. That's a lot further for your bags to travel than just out to a WDW resort. Ya know? Ever since we had that checked bag issue I'm extremely gun shy with the airlines and my luggage.

It's personal choice.. but here's what I would tell you..

A hotel room is cheap.. far cheaper than you are spending on the trip. So why put the trip at risk when for a simple $100 or so you can protect your investment and your time?

Unless you are the type that can sleep no problem on planes.. and feel rested. I'd rather get in late the day before, sleep, and then be fully charged to be able to really enjoy my first day of vacation.

So true! Hubby & I are flying in the evening before our cruise and staying at the Hyatt right there in the airport. Scored a killer deal: $104.65 including all tax & fees! :)
