Has anyone else noticed an upswing in CM friendliness?

We went to Epcot's Guest Relations to upgrade our 4-Day PH to AP. It took a bit of time, not too much in our opinion, but the CM kept apologizing. We told him that it was no problem and as we talked he did admit that guests really think that it should take 2-minutes and you're done and a few get quite anxious and snappy. (9/13)

Then we were at Unleash the Villains and stopped by Fairfax Fare (all the QS were blown away with guests), the CM's were really trying and you couldn't have added more to the kitchen if you wanted to because then they'd just trip over each other, guests at the left-hand pick-up window were almost in fighting-mode over whose order was up or whose order should have been up. The right-hand pick-up window was calm; everyone waiting their turn...amazing that a few guests' with zero patience can make that much difference. (9/14)

At Mama Melrose, our waitress was quite cheerful and helpful throughout the meal. As she was helping the table behind us, whom didn't speak much English, we noticed a mom and son come in and just seat themselves (the lobby was full). She had to politely explain to them that they needed to check-in first. The mom left everything in the booth, because she thought they'd just come right back in to that seat and by-pass everyone else. Stacy had to come and get the stuff and take it to her in the lobby. The mom and son ended up leaving because they didn't want to wait their turn.

There are actually other sites that tell people to do this, because if you put up a big enough fuss then the CMs will let you stay, because Disney has trained the CMs to not create a scene.

Yes, CMs can have a bad day but many of their bad moments/days are brought on by guests. It's the positive and friendly guests that help keep their spirits and the magic up too.

The irony of that is that those same guests who know damn well what they're doing and know they are purposely trying to get away with something by taking advantage of the CMs desire to not cause a scene are the ones who then get home and post blog/forum posts about how rudely they were treated or how they'll never go back because Disney employees don't try to help you at all etc.

Unfortunately it happens outside of Disney as well. There are tons of people out there who have decided they have a better chance of "getting their way" when they themselves cause a scene, even if they know what they are trying to do is against policy/procedure/rules etc.

What's more... and what's worse... is that SO often these people having children in tow so the cycle is just perpetuated. Kids see the behavior and grow up to think the world owes them a favor and continue to act the way they were "taught."
