Has anyone else been assaulted by the Wishes sprinklers?

I don't usually watch Wishes from behind Cinderella's Castle, but I did the other day. Before the show, my companion was asking me where all of the puddles of water between Peter Pan and Pooh came from. It was dripping down on us in some areas, and was uncomfortable to walk through in other areas (especially by the carousel). I never gave much thought to the sprinklers on the Fantasyland rooftops that rain down before and during Wishes. But they will hit you if you're standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. They won't really hit you directly, but the resulting dripping will. :lookaroun

Has anyone else been unexpectedly hit by these and thought to yourself, "What the heck was that?"

As a side topic - once the Fantasyland expansion opens, my guess is that it will serve as a gorgeous setting from which to view the MK fireworks shows. I can't wait to see how amazing photos taken from the carousel area will look during whatever version of Wishes is showing at that time. :sohappy:

For those visiting MK now, I recommend catching Wishes from Fantasyland (if you've already seen it before from Main Street). True, the construction wall isn't beautiful, but there's hardly any crowds back there and it's actually pretty neet to be between the fireworks. There are moments when you can look up and feel surrounded by the fireworks. :sohappy:

When I first moved to the area seasonally 5 years ago, I was walking into Fantasyland via the Liberty Square pass-through and saw the water sprinkling down and thought, "Oh no, it's raining"! ;) I figured out soon enough that this was sprinklers due to Wishes, and now know the areas to avoid to not get wet! (such as when walking through the LS/FL pass-through before the show, stay on the left side near the Skyway station rather than the Columbia Harbor House side)

Complete agreement. Fantasyland has always been my favorite spot to view the fireworks for this very reason - for the amazing view as well as the relative lack of crowds. Even on the most crowded night of the year (New Year's Eve), it feels pretty roomy compared to the swarms of people found in the Hub/Main Street.

And then when the show is over, (on a night the park doesn't close with Wishes) you are footsteps away from all 8 Fantasyland attractions, and can hop on any of them right after the show. As opposed to seeing the show on Main Street, and feeling like a salmon swimming upstream trying to get back into one of the lands to do attractions, and having a massive wave of people and strollers coming in the other direction trying to leave the park.

I also like how close you are to the shells that are shot from behind the MK. You can see them perfectly, without the Castle blocking any of the lower ones. If one is familiar with the show enough to know when to turn to see the Castle shells, it is no issue whatsoever being in the middle of both sets of shells. In fact, I enjoy being surrounded by them, as you said.

Speaking of feeling surrounded by the fireworks while viewing in Fantasyland, this is how it feels while being airborne on Dumbo during the show. It's truly an iconic "Magical Moment" to be airborne on Dumbo at night, seeing the Castle lit up at night every time you make that turn, and having the fireworks going off all around you while in the air.

Even on New Year's Eve, on 2 of the last 5 NYEs, Dumbo was a walk-on during Fantasy in the Sky. On NYE 2006-07, there was no one at all in line and the CMs let the few of us on the ride stay on during the entire show - everytime we landed, they just let us stay seated.

Right before midnight, right before Mickey and the gang counted down backwards from 10, the CMs stopped the ride for us with all the Dumbos at their highest point, and I watched the moment of midnight - with the perimeter shells going off all around the Magic Kingdom, Seven Seas Lagoon, etc, from a perch in the air on Dumbo, high above the crowds, with a perfect view.

Truly a magical night I will NEVER forget, and I will deeply miss having Dumbo in that perfect, near-symetrical location behind the Castle after it moves.

I too like watching Wishes from Fantasyland. One night we sat over by the Teacups and the last time we borrowed some chairs from Pinnochio's Village Haus and watched them from near the restaurant. It is very nice.

Shhhhhhh, don't let out the secret! I love watching Wishes from FL. This past Sept. we hopped on Dumbo just prior to the fireworks starting (I was actually hoping we would see some fireworks while we were riding but the queue moved faster than we expected) and then we literally sat on the ground and watched the show. I was sitting with my husband while the kids danced and ran around, we were literally the ones there. So peaceful!

And yes, I got hit with the sprinklers walking by the Columbia Harbour House side, and I too thought it had started raining for a second!

I got hit by the sprinklers. Myself, my gf, and a few other guests (no one I knew) got splashed while we were walking to the other side of the castle from the rear. We were all trying to figure out what it was and jokingly accusing each other.

Never been hit with the sprinklers, always stood far away. I remember the first night Wishes started I was there and sat right in front of the castle and had a lot of debris fall on me...so I kept some of the firework pieces. Before I left the park the sulfur was really bad from the pieces I had to throw them out. I guess it's the thought of having a piece of Wishes that sounded fun.

My most favorite WDW memory is watching the Christmas fireworks, on Christmas day in 2006, from behind the Castle. I was not happy with the fact we were stuck there (I wanted to run to the front of the Castle but there was not enough time), but I soon changed my mind when we were stuck almost all alone, just my sweet family and me. It was the best! Almost like we were all alone and happy! I don't know if there is a way to re-create that experience or if it was just the moment we all had, but it was special! Thanks for the reminder, I loved that day and that visit.
