Has Anyone Done A Disneyland Guided Tour?

The wife and I consider ourselves disney aficionados. We were married there. Have taken a dozen or so trips there but, we've never done a guided tour. One we've already ruled out is the private tour as it is $350./hr. 6 hour minimum!(ouch) But, the one that looks really fun is the Walk in Walts Footsteps.(lunch included!) We will be going to DLR for our 17th wedding anniversary the 1st week of Nov. I booked us a park view at DCA hotel. I'm pretty sure that date will rule out any seasonal tours i.e. Christmas or Haloween. So, if you've done a tour I'd love to hear your impressions!

I did Walk in Walt's Footsteps 4 years ago. We walked around the park with audio devices and the tour guide related how Walt had influenced different areas of the park. We sat in on a Tiki Room show and the guide pulled out an animatronic flower at one point for us to inspect up close. We got to enter the Club 33 lobby and take pics near the elevator shaft (sadly, Club 33 itself remained tantalizingly out of reach). We had lunch near the train station, and a few months later I got a fun little Partners statue pin in the mail.

I haven't ever been able to figure out why, but the tour just seemed OK to me. The tour guide was friendly and engaging with a lot of interesting information, but I already knew it all. Maybe I'm TOO much of a fan to get the most out of it.

I did read from someone on here that they actually take you inside Walt's firehouse apartment on the tour now, which we did *not* do on my tour. (We looked at an old Nat Geo article with pics of the apartment instead.) That would be worth the money and time all by itself for me, if it's actually true.

It's true, Walt's apartment is included in the tour, now. The apartment is beautiful and still contains personal belongings of the Disney's. You get a feeling that's quite different from just visiting Disneyland. I'd recommend the tour just for that sole reason.

I did the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour in June. It was a nice tour, we rode Peter Pan, the train, did the lobby of Club 33 and the best part was Walt's Apartment. It was well worth the $$ and time.
