Has anyone been to Grand Floridian Cafe?

I called to make PS for 1900 Park Fare character breakfast, and the WDW agent said the restaurant is being remodeled and they've moved the character breakfast to the Grand Floridian Cafe. So two questions:

1. Does this new location "feel" like a temporary thing? Or did they do a good job making it seem like it's always beeen a character restaurant?

2. How does the atmosphere of the restaurant in general compare to 1900? I've never even been inside.

The Character Breakfasts were formally in the Cafe and not in Park Fare.
It was just as enjoyable and as much fun.

The Cafe did not have the buffet as the Park Fare does and I am sure that you still order from the menu in the Cafe.

Over all the experience will be just a good. (if not as loud)

It's not a buffet, but you don't order from the menu either. It's a set menu with food brought to your table, like the CRT breakfast.

The CRT menu is on allearsnet.com. The GFC character breakfast is not up there, but is supposed to be somewhat similar. At CRT, you can order 2nd servings of whatever you like, so it's somewhat like a buffet but with fewer choices and no need to serve yourself. You can also ask for the healthy breakfast - basically granola - instead of the standard one. I expect you'll be able to do the same at GFC.

I should have first-hand information to report on the GFC character breakfast in less than two weeks.

Thanks for the info. I shall be looking forward to your report and then be able to determine if I want to get everyone up early for breakfast at the Grand Flo. We always set one day aside each year for the Character Breakfast at the Grand Flo and check out the decorations, the gingerbread house, etc. 96 days to go - VWL :xmas: :xmas:

Sept. 19 at 1900 Park Fare

We were told even a few days in advance that our character breakfast on the 18th would still be at the Cafe. When we arrived though we were directed to Park Fare. It re-opened ahead of schedule, and the full buffet was back. This was great news to us. We never went there before the renovation, so I can't compare before and after, but it looked very new and nice.

1900 Park Fare is being refurbed.
We ate at the original location last year & at The Grand Floridian Cafe' this year.
The only meal difference was that last year it was a buffet & this year it was served from a menu.
We actually had a great time this year.
The decor in The Grand Floridian is nice, although 1900 Park Fare is nicer.
Once the characters are there, it completes the mood.

Here are some pics from our meal...

We went for the breakfast: Mary Poppins, Alice & Mad Hatter, and Tigger. Hopefully someone else will report on the new 1900 PF dinner.

as reported by allearsnet:

The Grand Floridian Resort's 1900 Park Fare reopened on
September 15, a few weeks earlier than its planned reopening
date of September 29. The evening character meal is now called
"Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner." Featured characters
are Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and evil
stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella. With the reopening of 1900
Park Fare, the Grand Floridian Cafe and Citricos have returned
to their normal operating hours -- the Cafe serves breakfast,
lunch and dinner, while Citricos serves dinner only. In
addition, the Wonderland Tea Party returned to the 1900 Park
Fare venue on Monday, September 17.
