Has any one stayed at Saratoga Springs?

Staying there this August, but have visited the grounds on a DVC tour. There might still be some scattered construction, though I think at this point, you'd only notice it if you were close to one of the other "phases" of construction, as opposed to being around a finished building. Meaning, landscaping and installing fountains and stuff like that should likely all be done by then. I think it's a beautiful place to stay, and I like the pool and the amenities available. On the minus side, it bothers me that they don't have a full-service restaurant, BUT that means my Disney Dining Experience membership is valid at their food court, AND there's a walkway to Downtown Disney and ALL the food THAT has to offer. For people traveling without kids (like my GF & I) being so close to Pleasure Island is also really nice.

As far as it measuring up, I've only ever stayed at PO-R and AKL. AKL is a one-of-a-kind experience, an absolutely wonderful and unique resort. I've visited most of the other Deluxes however, and I'd certainly put SSR on par with Boardwalk & Yacht/Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin. It seems like I'd enjoy SSR more than Contemporary. I might like Polynesian more (and would have to pay much more to find out!) and GF, well, when I win the lottery, I'll let you know how that turns out! Only Deluxe I've never seen up-close is Wilderness Lodge, which I know so many people here consider a favorite.

If you're worried about SSR not measuring up, consider splitting up the trip between two resorts. This way, you're not necessarily there the entire length of your trip if you wind up not digging it.

SSR is not a bad resort. I had a little room though, so I do advise against the studios. They just feel cramped because of the added "kitchenette" taking up walkway space. I don't imagine trying to fit a family in there for a week when 2 people staying overnight for an event were cramped.

It's odd, but rooms at the values felt bigger ;)

The 1 bedrooms and such are fine though - just the studios are small.

Overall it's a nice resort. Can watch the fireworks at Downtown Disney every night if you want. They're not particularly exciting fireworks, but still a perk!

If you bring your own car and drive, getting around is ok, a little daunting at first as the entrance to the resort is tucked away from everything and you can either backtrack to the entrance/exit or you can exit out the side near downtown disney marketplace but that puts you on hotel plaza boulevard and it's traffic - which aint fun.

Location is good for Pleasure Island and Cirque and all of Downtown Disney, but everything else seems kinda far away.

Nothing about the place struck me as grand or amazing, the buildings are cute in minty greens and pale-rose reds. I guess it falls into the "nothing for or against it" category. I've stayed at lots of WDW resorts and it's not on my list of places to NEVER go again (which includes the Grand Floridian) or my list of places I love (Wilderness, AKL, Boardwalk).

If you like the theme of the style of the place it may excite you more, there's certainly nothing "wrong" with it that stands out.

Thank you for your input. I also was looking at Old Key West Resort. I can get that for the second half of my trip at a discount(Deluxe Studio), but SSR I would have to stay the whole trip to get a discount on the Studio. Only One bedroom Villa available for the trip.
Budget won't allow for a stay the whole trip. :( :brick:
