Sitting on a Hollywood Studios bus and heard Harry Potter music. Has this been going on for a while? I've never noticed it. I know that there are other songs licensed elsewhere.

Well, yeah, but Disney has had a very close relationship with Lucas and Lucasfilms / Star Wars for decades. That's not the same as playing the theme of a direct competitor.

I first heard the HP music on one of the Disney buses last year. I was like "
what's that doing on here?" but I'm a massive HP fan, so I just nodded happily along with the music!

This is like at the Boardwalk Luna Pool a few weeks ago. One of the activities that the lifeguards play at the pool is some kind of Spongebob game. I heard them announce it the one day and was like...Spongebob? What the heck?

The Three Caballeros pool at the All-Star Music Resort were playing the Harry Potter theme last Sunday.
My friends and I looked around at each other with the "?" look on our faces, then, we wanted Butterbeer.

Lol you do realize Harry Potter is a Warner Bros. property and not a Universal one, they just licensed it
Going back on my original post, Star Wars is a Lucas property which is distributed by Fox. So what is the difference here? Neither are/were owned by Disney.

I'm not taking it anywhere. The OP made the comment that it was odd that you heard Harry Potter music on a Disney Bus. Considering that Harry Potter is the start of a very calculated and well executed draw of attention from Disney Parks for people considering Orlando (and as a result Disney) for their vacation destination, it's a valid observation that it is amusing, if not odd, that Disney would play the theme music from their closest local rival's licensed attraction on their property.
You seem to have missed that.

True, the background music often fades into just that...the background. It took me forever to place this common ambiance music:
I kept hearing it over and over again, especially at DTD...It kept bothering me until I got home and my Dad was watching videos of our trip and shouted out ROCKETEER (he's a HUGE James Horner fan)...
