MGM may not have room now but you forget that the chances for 2 stunt shows are very slim.. So if this this rumour is true there is a fat chance this will go were the Indy show is... All I can say is that I'm happy!!! And like someone here said: You don't need to like the story to like the ride... I for example hate Aerosmith but I'm a GREAT FAN of the RnR!!!

I get the impression that many of you base your opinions of Harry on his portrayal in the movies, which is not entirely accurate to the books...even my 80 year old grandmother enjoyed the books. With or without Harry, the books present a level of magic that I think only Disney could even come close to accurately depicting in an attraction.

Now that you all have made me think, a Harry Potter dark ride could be beautiful in M.G.M.(if placed right and not made like a cheap dark ride). I was not arguing how good the ride could be, as I feel a whole theme park could me devoted to HP and be brilliant. If disney was willing to dole out the big ones, an emv would be fantastic. What I believe would TRULY be amazing would be if there were different ways you could ride the ride, and you didn't know how you would be until you got on. What I mean is having different ride vehicles that move differently You might be lucky enough to get the hippogriff, so you can fly through the areas like in Peter Pan(I can imagine a gorgeous aerial view of Hogwarts saved just for these vehicles), On the floor vehicles like Horseless chariots, and who knows what else. They would all go through mostly the same rooms. I imagine a ride of this caliber would cost as much as Indiana Jones. Like the big temple rooom with the fire, the room that all the vehicles intersect and go through numerous times would be a grand Hogwarts lobby with moving pictures, changing staircases, etc. I can imaging hurtling in a ride vehicle towards a picture in a frame, when suddenly the picture disappears and you go through it. This ride could even fit into a possible Beastly Kingdom in Animal kingdom. I can also envision the pre-ride area beginning as you have to walk through the wall to get to the platform, where you board a train(leaving every five minutes). Like in animal kingdom, everyone is facing one side of the train, except they are glassed in. THe train travels through the forbidden forest where you see unicorns, spiders, the weasley ford anglia beat up, and you end up in Hogsmeade. The line twists through Hogsmeade shops(where you can also buy gifts as you end up here too. You board the ride In hogsmeade and you end up there too.

That sounds more like a land than a ride to me:) But it sounds awesome haha

The only thing half way concrete about Disney and Harry rumors is this....

"Warner Brothers sold all non-pay television rights to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, while simultaneously acquiring the advance rights to the upcoming November 2002 sequel, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to ABC.

The deal was worth a reported $140 million.

ABC owns ABC Television Network, ABC Family and theDisney Channel.

The agreement includes a ten-year license for each film.

The broadcast network will take the first run, with subsequent runs then shared between ABC Family and Disney Channel."

Even reading this, it shows that DIsney owns TV rights and that shows a 10-year license. I haven't seen anything that shows where they have any other rights other then when TV finally shows it. I'm not sure whether that 10 year licensing deal would make Disney able to have a ride and if they did, how long would it be around? Couldn't be longer then 10 years. I would also like to say that EPCOT wouldn't really be a good place for a ride it would be better suited for a short run deal at MGM. I would like to have a nice ride or themed area. We are fans of the books and the movies, even though the movies do not do the books justice.

SO??? J.K. Rowling is the owner of the rights to the name Harry Potter, it is her Disney would have to buy the rights to a ride from if they want to make one!!

Warner Bros. has the rights to the movies, Disney (ABC) bought the rights to air the movies on TV when the time came. That's why I said that doesn't really show where they could use that as an interpretation to build a ride.

I like the HP books and the films are moderate, i don't know if this is good or bad, can it really be passed off in a Disney resort!?

Just wanted to chime in and say I never read any of the books until I watched the hoopla surounding the release of the 5th book. I watched it out gross The Hulk (Movie) on the same weekend. I watched the people's faces yound and old as they bought their copies. They were excited, happy and couldn't wait to dive right in and use their imaginations

I have since read book 1, 2, 3, most of 4 and have the 5th.

I think a dark ride with a Harry Poter theme would be perfect for DisneyWorld. And I trust the imagineers would love to have a shot at creating such magic.

I only ask one question when considering such an idea.

Would Walt Like It ?

...and I think he would like this.

Harry Potter is one of the only phenomenons I have EVER seen that both 9 year olds and 90 year olds can enjoy, and everyone inbetween. Between imaginative stories that make fantasy seem reality and an incredibly detailed writing style that brings the reader into the action, I think this is exactly the type of story Disney could build upon in an attraction. It's been awhile since we've gotten an E-Ride that young and old can enjoy a la The Haunted Mansion. This would be a great way to do it.

Harry Potter at Disney World in 2006
Disney is planning to build a Harry Potter attraction in 2006 at Epcot Center in Disney World. Details are scarce at this point, stay tuned. (And kudos to TLC for the tip.)
