So is this true? Is the forbidden journey now in 3D? Im not the biggest fan of 3D, but I do like the idea for this ride. I really hope it feels more realistic now. Anyone tried it?

I like the design of the glasses as they do remind me of those in the movie!

The Harry Potter section doesn't officially open until April 7th. We will have to see what people say as it gets closer to opening.

I hope this doesn't happen. I think the screens look fine. I'm tired of having to wear 3D glasses for every ride. and I'm sure we'll need them for Kong, Fast and Furious, and Jimmy Fallon too. It's getting out of hand.

Think of the marketing opportunity. You think they rake in the cash with magic bands for $20 wait until you can buy your own custom 3D glasses. You can customize, have trading parties just think of the fun (and the money)

The idea of customized 3D glasses is a nice effort in theming I suppose, but I'm not sure how well these would fit over prescription glasses. I'm kinda hoping ours doesn't transition to 3D for that reason alone. Plus a lot of people are saying it makes the dark ride scenes darker and harder to appreciate.

Some people can not see 3D properly so it can be a hassle if you wear glasses or can't see 3D. I know 3D is more likely to make me motion sick.

Not really UOR's style to nickle and dime the guests- except for all the stinkin' wands, then the interactive ones. I'm surprised there's not a create your own wand though.

They could have "dinosaur" machines where you can custom mold your own! Think of the marketing opps!.

More than a hint of sarcasm here

I'm actually all for this upgrade, because from what I've heard the 3D upgrade would fix the wobble and bounce of some the screens by going to a more rigid material.
Maybe they'll upres the projectors as well.

Now removing the screens entirely, that would be an upgrade.

I think he meant in-universe. :joyfull:

I don't know about the movies, as I haven't watched them in years, but they explain the different wand materials at Ollivanders in the parks.
I know lol :p it was a joke.
Ollivanders does that in the movie as well. He explains to Harry how his wand is connected to Tom Riddles aka Voldemorts wand! (Two Phoenix feathers from the same Phoenix). Again in the last movie when Harry, Ron and Hermione is at Shell Cottage. He's talking about Malfoys and Bellatrix' wand.

Im glad they do the same at the parks. Making your own customized wand wouldnt make sense as only wandmakers who has studied wand lore can do that, but im glad you can find the perfect wand from the ones that already exists :)

The Wand chooses you. You don't create a wand but there are many many choices. It goes right along with Potter so I have no problem with any of that and in fact I really can't see how you can have a Potter park not having wands for sale? The interactive ones are sort of cool, my kids weren't interested in them but I saw many people using them.

One thing in Harry Potter is they never explain how the wands are made? There were special very power wands that some wizards had but no one ever explained how they came to be? There you go Potter nerds how are these special wands made?

Harry and Voldemort's wand weren't special except in relation to each other. As for the elder wand it was a Deathly Hallow. In the movie they let Harry snap it which is IMPOSSIBLE! In the books the wand was buried. According to legend the Elder Wand was made by Death - it is an ancient item that know one knows for sure where it came from. There is a lot on wand lore in the books. Wands makers are very secretive about their process and wand makers around the world have different methods they use. Not sure if I answered your question.

Does anyone else find it weird that Rowling's wizards use wands when in every other traditional depiction of wizards they use staves or nothing at all to cast spells?

Same with the broom-riding- this is all Halloween witch stuff.
