Hard to get a table during free dining?

Quick question:
How hard is it to get a table without reservations during the free dining time?
We will be down at WDW in September and the darling wife doesn't want to have to worry about getting reservations well ahead of time. I'm a planner, where she is more of the free spirit type.

Free dining plus 7/4...man that would be AWESOME.

Actually, you can't combine discount offers. You have to choose one or the other.

In fact, after crunching the numbers, for two adults Free Dining was only the better option at the Value resorts. At Moderate and above, you saved enough money on B4G3 that you could pay for Dining Plan yourself and still spend less money than the equivalent Free Dining package.

They also send out special-offer emails to random people on their mailing list for Free Dining other times of the year. I got one, and we're going on Free Dining in June.

Disney has offered it in the past to people who stay onsite and buy park tickets during certain slower times of year (Sept and December, primarily). All the normal restrictions apply (limited availability, etc.).

Dude dude dude dude dude dude dude, I stay during those times!!??? During slow dec i went last year (like we do every year, start out slow, move into the fast times), this year will be our...ummm 4th year i think (i dont know i have to look at the ornaments). AND i never stay off site, im always somewhere on site (usually at POP)...wheres my free dining plan

As of right now, no public free dining offer has been announced.

The current 4/3 promotion is for dates through August 15th, and has to be booked by the end of this month. So around the beginning of April we should see what (if any) offer will be made for dates after Aug 15th.
