Hard ticket land clear - new hub

With the new hub almost finished, could this be a change to the current land clear and park exit strategy with hard ticket events.

In past years they have moved the day guests towards the hub but then down Main Street. With the new hub it would seem convenient to use the outer ring of the hub to exit guests down the bypass to avoid any lingering on Main Street.

This would also entail switching up a long time tradition of the east tunnel being the main entry tunnel and the west tunnel being the exit. With the bypass used for an exit, it would seem more convenient to flip the two and begin using the east tunnel as the exit.

Wouldn't they want leaving guests to "linger on Main Street". Just because guests haven't paid for the party doesn't mean their money isn't good in the stores.

Stores are closed to event Guests only at 7pm. Operationally it's too much of a challenge to keep them open and have the park clear of day Guests before entertainment on Main Street begins.

Are you sure stores are closed to anyone? Rides, yes, but I cannot see Disney closing stores to anyone -- the same thinking that has stores open on Main Street at least an hour past park close. Would not make an ounce of business sense. And it especially would not make sense to send them down the back alley out if it is not a capacity issue. Remember, they paid $100 to be there that day, and shopping on the way out on a day that was cut short to begin with would seem to be welcome. The people coming IN to the hard-ticket event are likely headed down the street to rides and shows, anyway, not filling up shops as soon as they get in, any more so than people fill up the Emporium at 8 a.m. on a normal day. Seems obvious to let the leaving folks linger in the shops on their way out while the incomers walk UP the street.

At 7pm no one can enter a gift shop, restaurant, or Ride line without a wristband for the ticketed event. People paid an up charge for the time 7pm-12pm. It helps clear out the day guests as stated above.

I've been to a few, and also been in the park when there is an event I did not attend. They do a very polite but expedited clearing of the park. I'd venture to guess that a very large portion of the guests do not pay $100/day as many/most are Magic Your Way multi-day/park.

Is it unfare to other guests? Technically the hard ticket party dates are published well in advance, so you attend MK at your own risk. That Disney legal-ease said, I do not believe guests should pay the full $100/day when the day is limited, known or not by the guest. To me $85 per guest is more reasonable as it's only a partial day park (roughly 3/4 day) during hard ticket events. If you have a Magic Your Way multi-day, then no discount need be applied as there are already huge discounts included.

I've been to Night of Joy, which was otherwise sold out on the Saturday, and I did not notice anyone not being let into the stores. The rides, yes, but not the stores.

And I do think that, at least for MK, there are a good number of people who pay one-day tickets, especially on a Saturday.

But either way, I think it would seem rare that anyone is prevented from dropping cash at least while the stores themselves are open.

If you would attend a MNSSHP or MVMCP you will see cordons of cast members across the paths to Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland which at 7pm will not let anyone without the event wrist band pass. Cast Members are also at the entrance to every merchantile and dining establishment checking for the wristbands. You will see cast members with lighted signs either Ghosts or Christmas trees escorting out any guests who do not have the wristband (aka the walk of Shame)

Most of the major stores sell the event merch, and close to day guests to prevent them from purchasing. I did think some stores were accessible like say the confectionary

One of my dad's favorite stories from when he was at one of the Halloween parties last year was that in addition to the stores, restaurants and rides, they were also checking wristbands at the restrooms after 7pm and refusing entry to all non-party goers. He kept saying how if that's not motivation to leave the park, then I don't know what is!

I'm positive. On Halloween/Christmas party nights once the announcement is made that the party has begun Cast Members will stand at all shop entrances and check for wrist bands before allowing entry. 20 mins after party start time they will sweep Main Street making sure day guest are heading towards the exits.

I'm getting confused. Weren't the wrist band eliminated a long time ago? Am I mistaken in that or are you referring to the Magic Bands, which would need a electronic connection to read them. So, how do they do it without either?

Not the Magicbands, you get a paper wristband when you enter the park with a party ticket so cast members can easily see that you have a ticket. Wristbands were eliminated for EMHs a few years back, but not for the parties.
