Just wanna wish all you Metallica fans a happy St. Anger's Day.

Interested to see what the metal fans here thought of it.

Background info on me and music...

Metallica is probably one of, if not my favorite metal band...I have never heard a bad song (in my opinion) from them.

That being said...

The local radio station played St. Anger last night...and...well...I heard the first 4 songs before turning in...and I gotta tell you...these were the first 4 BAD songs that I've ever heard from Metallica.

Since when do they go by the rule "Just play as hard as you can and James will scream over you?" (Granted, I did hear some nice guitarwork...)

You look back at previous albums...and you get gems like Master of Puppets, Nothing Else Matters, Don't Tread on Me, One, Orion...

But...with that negativity being said...this may be an album that you need to hear more than once to really get into it.

Huge Metallica fan. I was not impressed with what I heard on the radio either. I won't buy it until I hear more people talk about it. Most people so far haven't been impressed. What a disappointment.

I dunno..I've heard it more than a few times now, and I really like it. I like the raw energy of the album...it's very vicious. A lot of people are complaining about the lack of production with the vocals and such, but I think they come across as much more raw. To me, it's more real.

They're seriously ed off about something in this album, though...there's not a ballad on it, not to mention no solos at all.

I think the title sums it up...the album is all about anger. It may be very unfocused at the moment, but I think this is definitely a step in the right direction, and makes you forget about load/reload.

Well, its better than the last two albums. Definetly not "....And Justice for All" or "Master of Puppets" territory. Nothing groundbreaking.

Ironically, as i was stopped at a traffic light listening to the title track, i saw two morons leaning out their windows just screaming at each other. Funny.

I dunno..like..i expected a LOT more from all the hype it was getting. Lack of guitar solos puts a bad taste in my mouth, and the fact that it sounds like a nu-punk type album really doesnt fit the "metallica" name....in my opinion at least.

Load and ReLoad were a little tamer...but they had some decent tunes on both of those albums...I've yet to hear one on St. Anger...
