May the 4th be with you!

Great story. I am the same age as you but I got to see Star Wars the first time it released. It was the first movie I remember seeing in the theater and as you might have guessed it has stuck with me my entire life.

I think Star Wars has stuck with most of our generation. If you weren't there at the right age, you just don't understand. It was our Woodstock.

I remember seeing a few movies before Star Wars. My first movie was some weird sci fi thing. It was kind of a Stepford Wives knock off with robot babies. My mom was visiting my dad at the Army Reserves and they assumed I would be too young to remember it. But I took it all in like a sponge.

I remember crying during Bambi which was my first real movie. I also remember seeing Benji and Peter Pan. But nothing impacted me the way Star Wars did.

Some day, I'm going to have to make it down for a Star Wars weekend!

May the 4th Be With You as well!! I was hoping some other Star Wars geeks would acknowledge it - great to see the new signage today for the ride and CAN'T WAIT for the soft-opening preview updates!!

Side note - my sister gave my son the Star Wars Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy - it's really amazing and I recommend checking it out if you've never seen it!

Cool pop-up book. I've seen Matthew Reinhart's DC Super Heroes pop-up book which was also quite awesome.

Heading for the great escape.

Much as I quite like the films over here we had punk explode in 77 and of course Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee. which nudged the old Star Wars don the pecking order despite the local involvement.

I was born the year Star Wars originally released, so I missed it in the theaters. But, my grandparents had cable and it played tons on HBO, so I watched it at least 20 times at their place when I was 2 or 3 years old. I even got to go see Empire Strikes Back in the theaters... but Yoda kinda freaked me out a bit back then.

Anyway, here's a link to something silly. There's a webcomic artist I like and he's been posting single frame comics that he did with Star Wars themes today. This had been the first one: http://twitpic.com/4ta7le
