Well.. I´m back form the concert and since it was BEAUTIFUL, I had to come and tell you! Maybe you don´t care, but I will still tell you! hehehe ;)

The Binational Symphonic Orchestra Mérida - Miami, formed by 64 musicians from Miami and my city, played tonight for a full theater. The program as follows:

First Act.-
Symphony No. 9 "New World" by Anton Dvörak that he composed to honor the US in 1893.

2nd Act.-
"Salón México", composed by Aaron Copland in 1936 to honor Mexico after a visit of the composer to the country. Parts of this piece were used in Illuminations, by the way...

"Rapsody in blue", by George Gershwin composed in 1924, an icon of the american music history.

It was simply amazing and very very enjoyable! :sohappy:

Happy Independence Day wkd.

Happy Fourth weekend!

I am really, really enjoying being a member of this forum. Thanks, Steve, for everything you do.

It is cool to see so many non-American people around this board wishing good will to Americans on the Fourth. At work I just finished waiting on a taxpayer (I am a tax auditor for a local government, and I am on break now) who is actually a German citizen who owns a small business here. He was busy talking about the freedoms Americans have, and how moving it was for him when the Berlin wall came down. He cried.

We are really becoming a worldwide community. With everything going on today, it is nice to see the goodwill that is shown on this board and in other places around the world. Maybe Walt's dream (and "the American Dream") is still alive...
