10 years ago Disneyland completed their expansion from becoming a one day stop to a multi park destination.
On February 8th, 2001 Disney's California Adventure opened to the public.
The Headliners were:
California Screamin', Grizzly River Run, Soarin' Over California, The Maliboomer, and The Sun Wheel.
California Adventure was about paying tribute to te great state of California. The sections that the park were broken up into were suppose to showcase everything great California had to offer.
After you stepped past the huge letters spelling out California, you had just stepped into a postcard. In Sunshine Plaza, one would find a magnificent Sun Sculpture. After this entry plaza it would branch off into many different lands.
Hollywood Pictures Backlot gave guest the feeling of being on a real backlot in Tinsletown. On Superstar Limo guest could ride through Hollywood as the new big shot in town.
In Condor Flats guests could learn about California's aviation history. Also guest could embark on a once in a lifetime trip as they soared over California.
The Grizzly Peak section payed homage to the great national parks and wilderness that California had. The bravest would brave a trip on the Grizzly River Run through rushing white waters.
In the Bay Area guest found a recreation of a San Francisco street and also a replica of The Palace Of Fine Arts. This is where Golden Dreams played. A show about the history of California.
On the other side of the magnificent Grizzly Peak and at its base is the Golden Vine Winery. Here guest could sample the wines from napa valley and enjoy films about the area.
The Pacific Wharf is where guest could feel like they were on Cannery's Row and witness the production of various foods and try a sample also.
Bountiful Valley Farm is where guests could bring out the farmer in themselves as they discovered the rich agricultural history of the golden state.
Finally in Paradise Pier guest could experience a California boardwalk in only away Disney could create. An old fashioned looking coaster dominates the area while a huge ferris wheel complements it along with the mighty Maliboomer. The rides here evoke a summer day on a California boardwalk.
Unfortunately, DCA didn't quite meet Disney's attendance standards and through the years the park has evolved and evolved and evolved. Right now it's in the midst of the largest makeover any Disney park has gone through.
DCA will soon show it's true stuff in 2012 when everything is complete but for now let's take a look back at the past 10 years of the park.
What were some of your memories?
