Halloween

From what I have heard the beginning of the month on a non-peak night (any night its going besides Friday or Saturday). It's easy to tell the peak nights as those are the nights where it is open for another 2 hours. If I were going to go as a guest I would get it done with soon before the whole Halloween Spirit takes over. That way fewer people are even interested in going.

I'm kinda worried about it being at Islands though... that being for some reason the favorite park of locals in the target audience of HHN might cause heavy crowds anynight. I think once word gets out that it is at Islands... the place will be packed almost every night.

And I am so looking forward to scaring the crap out of drunk people. Drunk people are funny to begin with. Scared drunk people should be an absolute riot. If I get a job I hope I'm not laughing too hard if a drunk guy screams, steps back and falls down. I may have to run away just so I dont get a hernia from holding in the laugh...

Nah, the designers have been begging to use IOA since the park opened.

The widow Suess was always the thing holding them back from getting it.

I'd love to leak all kinds of info about it, a friend of mine worked on the houses this year, but he told me he got a serious chew-out over info he didn't leak that came out before any plans were finalized so I'm as in the dark as anyone.

But I know my friend, he's good and so it'll be a great one this year.

And to give an idea of the scale of preparation for it, in March he was doing site overviews in the park to determine what areas they could use and transform easily.

So, it takes about 8 months or more to pull off.

I seriously doubt the move had anything to do with Howl-o-Scream at BG. Halloween Horror Nights considered by most to be THE Halloween event of the year. Universal doesnt really have to compete with BG on it because all of the Orlando-nians and surrounding it only care about HHN. You could probably ask if they know what BG's Halloween Festival is... and they wont know. In this area of Florida, if you say Halloween... everyone answers Horror Nights.

I am so very tempted to throw up a poll wondering what people like better...

Halloween Horror Nights
Howl-o-Scream or
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

(I doubt the last one will win... but this is a Disney site so hey I gotta do it...

HHN gets my vote... barely. The last 2 years, I've actually preferred MNSSHP over it... just these last 2 though. I have a feeling this year HHN will blow everything else out of the ballpark

I might have missed this...

I kept hearing about how Dr. Seuss's widow was preventing Universal from using Seuss Landings as an area for the Halloween Nights. ( I couldn't balme her, though, really. As long as its mainly adults, though) Now I see from the main website that Seuss Landings is being turned into "Boo-Ville", where the grinch has taken over. That seemed normal to me, but then I read on that teh haunted house here has the main character, that one scary guy. How did they get that passed by Mrs. Seuss?

and that's because you're working in it, right? ;)

I didn't think last year was all that bad aside from what seemed like no real theme...

Okay let me see if I can explain this... Rob can correct me if I'm wrong.

Boo-Ville is going to be the actual island. The Grinch's henchman will be the street performers out in the open. The haunted house though is called Screamhouse and is not themed to the Dr. Seuss island at all. It is actually a mortuary type set-up.

Dr. Suess isnt the only island where the house doesnt match up with the island. The Fear Factor house is on Jurrasic Park and Scary Tales 2 is on Toon Lagoon (Treaks and Foons). Actually only two of the houses match the theme of the island and that Maximum Carnage and Evilution.

Hope that helped...

I just wanted to post this because I thought it was a great example of 9/11's immediate impact on the general public. Last year, 9/6, to be exact, I printed out all the info for HHH in preparation for my visit. However, 9/11 came and went, and on another visit to the site, 9/27, I realized that a lot had been changed to make the event less gruesome. I decided to print the new information as a reminder of just how much 9/11 affected everything. The following are some of the more obvious changes:
The Mummy Returns: Temple of Terror- The Mummy Returns: The Curse Continues
Terror Land- Scary Tales
Bloodbath: Underground Fright Club- The Ooze Zone Fright Club
Slasher Alley- Nightmare Alley
Dead Zone- The Unknown
Festival of the Dead- Nightmares on Parade
Also, their new "spokesperson", Eddie, the clown, was ditched in favor of the previous year's spokesperson, Jack.
I'm pretty sure that MUCH MORE was actually done in the park to dull it down, and I'm sure that this might be the reason for last year's event not being up to par with their previous offerings. I'm not trying to make excuses, just using common sense. I'm sure that this years event will be much better...

If they were to change the rides name because of the word "terror" in it (which might or might not be the case), you think Disney ever considered that for the Tower of Terror? Actually as I think of it...it also contains the word "tower"..
I just wonder if they ever though of changing any of that after Sept. 11.

(Not that I think hey should ever do that. Just because of a few related words, that is no reason to tamper with a ride.)

And regarding that Scary Tales thing, I read that it will concern childhood nightmares come to life or something liek that. WOuldn't that be sort of related to "cartoons"? Isnt it supposed to be a take off of Farie Tales?
