Halloween Party

Hello everyone,

So I'm visiting WDW for the first time in over 8 years in just under 3 weeks.
Among the usual itinerary items we have organized we will be attending the not so scary halloween party on friday sept 28.

My family and I are excited to attend as this is our first time trying out the party.
My wife and I want to dress up in costume however not too certain what unwritten rules and parameters there are regarding costumes to this event.

Now obviously we won't go revealing lots of skin or a gory costume but would you all have any suggestions or past costumes that you have used that I can bring?

Among packing for a week long trip I figured something easy to bring would be best.

I appreciate all of your help and feedback.

Have a great day!

So excited for you for your 1st MNSSHP! Rules for costumes are essentially no masks, gory costumes...u can visit the website for rules. Although the official start time us 7pm,in the past we have been able to get in, get our treat bag and grab dinner before the party starts. The allears website will post a review I. Early September and this is a great resource for info such as which attractions will be operating. We have seen all kinds of costumes line the incredibles, pirates, star wars even Dr doof! Have a great time planning! That's part of the fun for me and have a great time at the party!

Seen groups in great costumes like the wizard of oz & peter pan & crew to random costumes of inflated cowboy
& cowgirl 1 year. How they managed the rides I haven't a clue. From past experience DW had problems with her wings when she went as a butterfly, they kept getting caught on stuff :(

Go simple. My kids wore one-piece costumes that were soft, warm and easy to pack. Don't get complicated with a lot of "extras" and props for the costumes. I just wore all black and put cat ears on and it was fine. My husband brought his pirate costume (which comes out every Halloween). It's definitely worth dressing up, though, because the majority of visitors to the party do. It's a lot of fun. Good luck!

Congrats on your first MNNSHP!! I agree with other posters, keep it simple, not just for packing reasons, but remember, its ALOT of walking around. In the past, I have seen adults dressed as skeletons, witches, warlocks, Disney villans, but nothing bloody or suggestive. Whatever you do..... wear comfortable shoes!!! Have fun!!!

Make it simple. I went in full on Mary Poppins. Amazing costume but I was hot and uncomfortable and by the end of the night, I was miserable. It was hard to get all the bits on the rides - the carpet bag, umbrella, etc. It was hard. So although it was full on fantastic, I wouldn't do it again. light weight, with not a lot of accessories, that is key! :)
