When do tickets usually go on sale for this event? I will be in Orlando 10/18-10/28 and want to check it out.

Start looking at the Universal website or halloweenhorrornights.com site around late August or September. They'll start pushing it then.

ALso know that Wendy's or other places like that offer discounts on tickets. Coke cans have done the same in the past... In case you're looking to save some money.

I have a horror nights questions....

How good is it? We're considering moving our vacation a couple of weeks back just to do it and wondered if ti was worth it?

I also wondered if the weather was much worse in early Oct as supposed to mid Sept

HHN is really good, if you have never been I would definitely consider moving the trip. Just get ready to deal with big crowds. As for the weather it may be a few degrees cooler but still not "cool" hope this helps.

It's completely different every year. Same basic idea, but the quality varies. As for the weather, October usually has some of the best weather, and hurricanes are less likely. Although it was unusually humid early in the month last year. Specifically at night.

The crowds usually are smallest on Thursdays and Sundays.

Awesome, does anyone know when previews for the public are or the earliest possible date to see HHN if you're not a Universal employee/Member of the press.

With the way that the month of October begins this year, look for Sept. 29th or 30th being the first day of the event... Go on the first Sunday of the event and you'll have low crowds... but the casts may not have found their 'sweet spot' yet...

HHN has to be the the best Halloween event anywhere, wouldn't suggest you bring most kids under 10 or so, some kids under 10 might love it but it might freak out alot of them, you might know if yours can handle it.

Some suggestions for doing this event would be to go as early in October as possible on a non-peak night, a wednesday or thursday, avoid weekends. Also if you're going to the parks in the day go where they hold people as they transform the park or parks into the event, usually a restaurant and get something to eat and by like 6:30 or so you can go out and they'll have som of the houses open before the regular start time of 7pm and you'll be able to do like 2 houses before the crowds start up.By like 8-9 the waits can be 30-45 minutes on a non-peak night 70-90 or more on a peak night so getting 2 houses done with no wait really pays off.

The disadvantage of going early in October, as Jrok mentioned, is that the cast isn't as "on" as they will be later on in the month. Usually it takes a few days to really get the flow down, find out where the best scare spots are, what works and what doesn't, you get the idea. Same as any other performance.

And though Off-Peak nights (Thursday and Sunday) are typically less crowded, Peak nights (Friday and Saturday) are open two hours later--assuming the schedule won't change from last year.

Now then, for my totally biased opinion: Go! It's an awesome event! I'm proud to say I've been a part of it for the last couple of years, and I always take a couple nights off to experience it as a guest.

I've been attending HHN since 1992 (only missed a few years) and have been working since 2003... btw, love the avatar :p

Man, I wish I could say I've been going that long! My first year attending was 2002 (the first year I lived here), and my first year working was 2004 in Hellgate Prison.

First year was '04. I really loved the Vampyr house. Hmm...working as a Scareacter is something that's also appealing to me...I know someone else who has done it as well. She last worked as one of the queen's attendants.

I worked in Vampyr and let me tell you, we had that house down to a science... I was in the library (below the flying vampire), throwing my arms out from the book cases and then dropping the picture on the wall... I loved working in that house! I think that was probably one of HHN's all-time best... Last year I was in Terror Mines and then in HHN 13 I was in Port of Entry and Lost Continent... Also during HHN 14 I worked in Fright Yard and Midway of the Bizarre (as a FEARcilitor)...

I was the girl who was making comments like , "I feel so at home here..." though the only scare I had was the guy who just ran out in front of me at the end. :) I would love to go back again...though it sometimes worries me that some Universal execs. aren't very informed about their products...Van Helsing was cut from the "Bill and Ted" show because this suit had no idea who he was. :brick:But I'm one of those people who wishes they'd install Fortress Dracula from USH there because I am a HUGE Sommersverse fan and it would totally rule to have attractions devoted to two of my favorite movies in the same park. (Though I'm not counting E.T., which would make it three of my favorites.)

Last year was my first. I liked it, but I never got very scared. I think the crowds were just too big when I was there. People were herded through the houses so that there never was an opportunity to get that creeped-out feeling. I went toward the end of the month, the night before Wilma blew through. Maybe I picked the wrong night (very possible). It definitely was a little wet. Anyway, I'll be there again this year as my best friend and I do the "girls' vacation" thing. :D

Yeah, unfortunately the crowds are kinda the trade-off when you have a huge event like this. I know the Ride And Show people do their best to try to keep line wait times as low as they can so you're not waiting three hours for a single house. However, that usually means that on busy nights there's an awful lot of "conga-lining"--just a constant stream of people walking through the house. I agree with you that it deminishes the creepy feeling you'd get walking through with just a small group of friends. Glad you still liked it though. Only six more months till HHN 16! Whoopee!

Great way to describe it! That's perfect. I did enjoy myself (despite the wet weather) and look forward to this year's. I just try to be a bit more careful in my planning.

An easy way to avoid conga-lining through a house is what I do, just self-pulse... Back in the day before the event got to be as popular as it is now, they would "pulse" guests through the houses in groups... that is to say that they would count off 10 or so people, then let them into the house and close the door behind them... then get the next group ready and after about 30 seconds of the first group entering, they'd let the next group enter... unfortunately the event is just way too popular to do that today, so what I do is self-pulse... I let the people in front of me get out of view for about 20 seconds before I go... of course the people behind you will be yelling to move it along and you may have a worker say it too... but if you tell them, "I'm just pulsing so I don't see the scares coming" they're not going to do anything... do it, have fun! There's no reason to not get scared after waiting in line for a while... and invest in an Express Pass!
