half-marathon/marathon shirts?

hi, everyone. i'm sam, a seventeen year old girl, highschool xc runner.. but anyways, the ridiculousness of this question aside, does anyone know what the shirts of the past/ the shirts of this year will look like? we do get shirts at registration, no? i'll be doing the half, since you have to be eighteen to do the full, and would kill for a longsleeve shirt. a short sleeved one would be cool, too, haha, but i was just wondering.

Welcome to the Running section of wdwmagic. It is a good place to be so I hope you stick around.

Are you referring to tech shirt or normal 100% cotton shirt? Tech shirt comes with registration and they sell long sleeve shirts at the expo. As for the design, Im not sure about that and you will have to wait till a veteran of WDW races to see if they have ever seen the design before hand.

Check out Disney Shopping site. I think they have a marathon section of all of the different shirts that are given to us folks who have registered for 2011. Can't wait for my Donald Duck 1/2 marathon shirt, although I wish it were black. And I wish I was running the full, but the Donald Duck medal is much more important! 13.1 is my warm up for cryin out loud...I'm blabbering, sorry.

Check out Disney Shopping site. I think they have a marathon section of all of the different shirts that are given to us folks who have registered for 2011.

Disney Shopping.com has very limited Marathon merchandise, although I did buy the Disney Marathon in Training shirt already. But just so you know the items at the Expo and what they give you in your goodie bag are different that what you can purchase on-line before the race.
The tech shirt they give you in your goodie bag is nice but sponsor driven, meaning on the back it has the logos of the race sponsors and the front is usually just the marathon logo with the date of the race.

Do they usually have different characters(Donald, Mickey, Goofy) on the medals for the different races? Or is this your first year running in the 1/2 Marathon?

Mickey medal = full marathon

Donald medal = half marathon

Goofy medal = Goofy challenge

The marathon and half marathon shirts are white long sleeve Champion tech shirts. They logo for the half is royal blue and yellow, the full is red and navy. From '06 to '09 the front logo was the same - it had either the MIckey (full) of Donald (half) running with a logo similar to what you see on the website. Last years shirts had more of a block deisgn to them. I believe in '08, the shirts were light gray. The left sleeve has the logos of the 4 major parks as well as the Wide World of Sports. The main sponsors logos are on the back. Goofy Challenge shirts are usually different colors. They had gray one year, navy one year and orange another (the Goofy colors are royal and orange).

When you arrive at the Expo, you must first go to the Milkhouse building to pick-up your bib and chip. You will recieve your shirt when you go to the Josten's Center, along with your goody bag. Last year, the bag included a disposable camera for the half and full (2, if you're Goofy).

Shirts for the 5K are cotton short sleeve t's. The logo on the shirt is usually the "medal" you recieve at the finish line.

....and a side note, if you're looking to buy a shirt try to get to the expo at your earliest opportunity, they have a tendancy to run out...your race shirt you'll get, but the race merchandise to purchase inventory never seems to be enough, I always feel bad for the Saturday arrivals...
...I need to leave this thread now as I'm not running this years and I'm getting fear of missing out twinges after 2000, 2008, 2009, 2010...W&D 1/2 took my budget last month!

shows last years half shirt with only the parks ran through on it. It also should give the OP an idea on what the shirt will look like. I only have the 2010 stuff out at home, so I don't know about the older shirts, but that was how the recent ones were done.

I do agree to a point though about earning the bling. Buying it just doesn't do it for me.

Interesting. All of the previous years half shirts ('06-'09) had all the park logos on them. I only ran the full last year, so I didn't notice.

Thanks for posting all of this. Making me VERY excited to see my shirt. And making my hubby wonder how much money i am going to try and spend at the Expo! Yes he is NERVOUS!...lol

But if you do the Goofy...you get all three medals. You have to get something for that $300+ registration fee.

When running the Goofy you get three metals total - Donald, Mickey, and Goofy (at least you did in 2008 anyway). When I did the Goofy in 2008 we had to wear a special wrist band for each race and it notified the staff who was to get both the Mickey and Goofy metals. On that Sunday we went into a special corral to get both metals.

In regards to the shirts, I'm looking at the ones from all of the Disney races I ran:

2006 Half - white longsleeve and it has all four parks on it
2007 Half - white longsleeve with all four parks
2008 Half - light grey longsleeve with all four parks
2008 Full - light grey longsleeve with all four parks
2008 Goofy - navy blue longsleeve with all four parks

Looking forward to getting the 2011 shirt too :sohappy:. I hope this helps.

They did the same last year for Goofy with the wrist bands. You got the first one at the Expo and then traded it at the special Goofy tent at the finish for the half. Then, you traded the second wrist band at the Goofy tent at the finish for the full and got the Goofy medal. Other medals were distributed with the non-Goofy runners. All 3 shirts at the Expo.

I think they're lacking an official "Dopey" shirt, even if you have to buy it at the Expo. It would be cool to acknowledge that, as well.
