Guest Falls from Balcony at Contemporary

Details dont confirm if it was a suicide, but if so, its sad when anyone takes their life. Ending their life at WDW where their memories were once happy ones. And now tied to tragedy. So tragic for all those left behind, leaving them with a lifetime of loss, grief, guilt, feeling of having failed to see it coming, inability to stop it, and so many more feelings they are left to deal with.
Condolences to those who must deal with the after effects.

I do hope that this was an accident and that WDW management does not overreact and start putting barriers on the balconies of all the resorts. Prayers go out for the guest and the family.

We were staying at BLT and headed out for bfast at the Contempo Cafe around 7-7:30 am. The bridge was blocked for their investigation.
We had to walk out of the BLT lobby doors (instead of the south door) and head to the Contemporary/MK pathway to turn and get into the Contemporary. They had tons of security and resort workers standing everywhere inside and out to make sure nobody went out the wrong door or near the bridge. Nobody was on or near the bridge at all when we went to bfast or when we returned to BLT.
We were told we couldn't cross the bridge because they were "inspecting" it for a maintenance check - peculiar time to do something like that...
As we walked, we passed multiple Sheriff cars with their lights flashing - extraordinary touch for an "inspection."

When anything bad happens on property Dis wants to keep guests from seeing anything negative that might ruin your magic. I can understand their making the inspection comment but you can’t hide the reality of Sheriff cars telling you something bad occurred. It does make you more interested in finding out the real story. And news gets out quickly and in no time you find out what happened.

Massive rock works and fencing along the beaches. Added fencing with locked gates around the pools which were open 24/7 and now they are only open scheduled hours.
That's what happens when a child dies. The changes were merited. Swim at the pools.

That is what happens when parents do not supervise their children. Changes were not merited. How do you swim at the pools when they are closed when you want to swim in them? You could before they fenced them in and locked the gates.

I follow a couple of YouTubers that cover cruise ships and its almost weekly someone goes overboard.
Whatever the cause. It is sad.

It’s common nowadays for hotels and resorts to have gates around pools. Pretty much the standard now.
