Guess who...

Guess who realized, while sitting on his flight to Orlando at 37,000 ft, that he forgot to put his magical express luggage tags on? This guy....

My wife turned around and said, "we'll have to change our clothes when we get there because it'll be warm, but I want to take the sweatshirts so you'll have to bring the backpack."

I replied, "ok....oh shoot, I can't, because I packed the backpack and we won't get our luggage until later"

She said, "oh, oops...hmmm"

I sat back and thought for a minute, then leaned forward when I realized what I had done and said and said, "you know what, nevermind, not only did I pack the backpack, but I forgot to put on the (blanking) luggage tags."

It's not like it's the first time I've done magical express, by my count I've done it 5 times prior, but for whatever reason, it just slipped my mind. In the end, it only set us back 10 minutes or so.

I was told by the reservation desk that if I brought the white tag receipts to the magical express desk they will still pick up your luggage. Anyone do this? It makes me nervous not to have that yellow tag...

I've done that. It worked fine.

I recommend taking a digital photo of each bag before you leave and print it off. When you get to the DME counter they'll take te information from your baggage stubs, but they'll also ask you to find what your bags look like on a big chart that shows very variety of luggage there is. Having the photos sped that process up a lot.

That's great advice! Thank you!! (I'll bring my glowing orange duffle so it's easy for them to spot!)

Like everyone else seems to be doing, we also tie a combination of colorful ribbons on our luggage which aids us, and maybe the DME people, in getting our bags off the carousel.

Hope you got your luggage OK and things worked out. Everyone around me laughs and makes fun of my reminder notes and plans that I have all over the place prior to our trips. I say, yeah laugh at me....but I never forget anything do I ? When weve used DME I slap those stickers onto the luggage as soon as I can rip them out of the envelope :D:D:D I'm sure your DW will be reminding you of that slip up so it wont happen again. ;)

Like I said, it only set us back a few minutes. By the time we got both kids to the bathroom, then took the tram over and walked down to baggage claim, 2 of our 3 pieces were already on the carousel, and the other was a few minutes later.

Been doing this for years but I didn't tell anyone else why. Soon everyone will have them on their luggage and it won't make a difference. Thank You.

What a smart idea, to take a picture, because we always carry our cameras in our carry ons! Also, if it were just me, I'd forget to put the luggage tags on annually. :jawdrop: Thankfully, I have a very dear DF that is superorganized on everything, especially all things Disney and has the luggage tags on before we leave the house for the airport!:p

A little bit off topic - I once got a cool free luggage tag from Amazon, just as a gift. Guess what color it was? Yep, yellow. And my bag got thrown on the Magical Express truck with the rest of the yellow-tagged bags. They caught it before the truck took off, and I got my bag back with only a small delay. I haven't used that luggage tag since!
