My guess is shortly before Tron opens.
Maybe never, or at least until another VQ worthy attraction opens in EPCOT.
We're long past ending VQ, based on prior VQ attractions.
The present system will give VQ guests a wait up to about an hour. That keeps the queue inside the attraction. I suspect Disney looks at long lines for FoP as a negative
Using Thrill Data, here are the return times at around 9am from today, yesterday and from 2/18/23 (a day Genie+ was at $29).

Nope right there with you. Rise VQ was different because the VQ was a stressful get. The Guardians 1 pm drop is nearly a guarantee to let everyone with an Epcot park pass to ride the ride once per day. Obviously with caveats (You have to tap into Epcot for 1 pm and no possible way to re-ride the attraction multiple times through the VQ, except for EEH).
I will not complain about skipping an hour+ in Standby, wrestling with rope droppers and saving $20/person
I'm assuming we'll see Standby for this ride at the first After Hours event. I'm hoping the VQ for Guardians sticks around for good.
I'd also be okay with a hybrid, switching to Standby at a certain point or having the first 4 hours of the park open be all Standby/ILL, then VQ the rest of the way.
