Not sure if this has been asked, but I got to believe there will be some kind of connection back to UoE,the original version, in the form of a tribute. Can anyone speculate what that might be? Any rumors about would be welcomed too?
A preshow of 10-year old Peter Quill sleeping on UoE. Which I would somehow find both charming and condescending. Probably best to just accept the condescending backstory and try to appreciate what we get.

The Guardian's ship (The Benatar) will now be decked out in NASCAR style sponsorships, and Exxon Mobil will carry over from Universe of Energy as the marquee sponsor.

Seriously though, as @MansionButler84 alluded to, the ride's story is supposed to involve Peter Quill's memories of a mid-80s trip to Epcot, so I expect some vintage Epcot tributes from that angle.

I had a wacky idea for End Game. Obviously good guys will win, bad guy will lose. What if at some point the gems in the gauntlet get knocked out or corrupted in some usual comic book way? And during that it pulls those close to it into some weird vortex since the stones aren't being controlled anymore. Everyone experiences a brief taste of the gems power so Quill (being the person he is), sees Epcot for all of 5 seconds thanks to the time stone.

There's a more solid tie to the park then some quick photoshop now. Not much, but something.

Just a dumb idea, that's all.

So that's why the box is so big, they are sticking Spaceship Earth inside.

It's funny you say that. When I was about that age, I used to fall asleep on the ride right after the dinosaur animatronics. I loved the show, but when my parents took me on it after a long day, it was so comfortable and relaxing to take a nap for 15 or 20 minutes. Man, I really miss that old ride.

If Guardians isn't as big of a thing in something like 10 years, I wonder if this ride is being made so it can easily be reverted into another theme at a later time.

I still can't get over the fact that Disney had the gall to put something like this in Epcot.... 😡

A ride that can be changed to something else isn’t really a thing. Just an Armchair Imagineering fantasy.

Wild internet speculation.

One of the sites that Shall Not Be Named showed those "dome" blueprints as an example of work the contractor constructing the show-scenes had done previously. It seems to be confusing people as those prints have now become associated with the ride itself, even though that dome has nothing to do with the GotG attraction.

Just an update based on photos I saw on twitter posted yesterday and last week. I won’t post the photos though as they aren’t mine. It seems they have dug down in UoE, and at the former entrance to the building you can see things sitting in the building. It appears as though the now dirt floor in UoE has been lowered to about 2 or 3 feet below ground level. Also the trees on the side of the pavilion have been cut, so it is likely they’ll work will start on the exterior. At the back of the roof, something seems to have been lifted up a bit, and metal fence-like posts have been installed, with steel infrastructure going in between them. Tighter steel frames for enclosure have been added to the launch tunnel and the still exposed corner of the gravity building. There is now a solid wall on one side of one of the the stairways in the gravity building as well, so I expect the entire building should finally be enclosed soon.
