Grumpy Guests

Hasn't every Disney Veteran experienced this? :D I am amazed how we can get there early, I put the four little one's down on the curb (3, 3, 3, 4) and we sat on each side and behind them. Then right before the parade starts I have to fend off the late-comers. I don't mind moving back and giving the seat I am in to a youngster who I can see over, but don't try and move my little ones out of the way because you had to get in one last ride on Space Mountain and were late for the parade.
Experienced this at DLP. Some French Man, tried to knock down my 1 year old niece. I asked him to be careful and he mumbled something under his breath. I asked him to repeat it and he said "typical American".

Normally not the flag waving type, but I almost lost it. I would tell you what I said but it would offend any French people on these boards... but it wasn't have a nice day!

I just remembered something from reading Scott's post... that same night as the original post... I left the park at just before 11. There was a huge line for both the monorail and the ferry. I probably should've gone to the monorail since it was organized into a line at least, but I went to the ferry, where there was just a mob of people. As I neared the turnstyles, this woman gones pushing through everyone, holding a child in front of her. She bumped a woman near me and her child pretty hard, and didn't apologize or anything. The woman near me started yelling, while the first woman was saying that she had a right to push through to the front because she had a child. ??! Lots of children were there! Anyway, the 2nd woman's teenage son just started smiling and saying to the 1st, as she continued to push through, "Have a nice night!", as she swore and cursed. It was kind of funny.

Once on the ferry, it was packed, and the same woman and the rest of her family came barging through to the front again. Yelling Excuse Me! and basically shoving people out of the way, so they could get off first. The kicker was once I made my way off, I saw her clan just standing there, on the ramp, waiting for someone else, presumably. Did they really need to push and shove and step on little kids (which I saw at least one of them do) just to get off the boat first? Of course not, they just felt entitled for whatever reason, and that attitude really gets to me.

There were times when I've been one of those grumpy guests. I can get really nasty when I am overtired. But that is no excuse for bad behavior. Recently I had an eye opener at the Magic Kingdom that will forever change my ways. I was there with my parents. My dad is 79 years old and it had just been an incredibly long day for him. We were next in line to get on the tram when a CM comes over and tells us, "I'm sorry folks this is not a line". My dad just went ballistic on the guy. He is also very loud, so I was completely embarrassed. Especially since we were partly, if not totally in the wrong. It made me realize that I've done that before and the people I was with probably felt that same sense of embarrassment. So now I either keep my big mouth shut, or find something...ANYTHING to laugh at during those times.

I think the grumpy people who offend me the most are the parents who show totally inapproriate behavior towards, or in front of, young children. It makes me wonder if later on they sit back to reflect and think "I acted like a complete jerk".

I've seen some grumpy guests. When a character is about due to leave their set, it seems like someone always has to scream at the greeter. It's not thier fault. I have never seen a greeter lose it while being confronted by a guest. Way to go character greeters.
