Grown Up Disney Vacation

Hello all!

My fiance and I are planning our disney honeymoon for June 2016. MYW package is already booked and ADR's have been made, we've done research and have snagged promo offers as they roll out but there just isn't a great deal of information out there for doing disney as an adult passed dinning and hotels. I'm on the hunt for touring plan advise!! We have 5 park days and our plan was to do a park the afternoon we arrive (flight lands late that afternoon and we plan to check in online) a day at each of the 4 parks (extra day was part of the promo and not in our original plan at booking) and one day at Universal Studios.

Any advise from seasoned Disney/Orlando goers on visiting the Mouse without kids? How we should plan our day? We've both been to Disney as kids but this will be our first trip as big kids :)

You will have just as much enjoyment as you did as a child - possibly more. Remember that WD wanted a place where the 'family' could enjoy the attractions and WDW provides this. Nothing is unavailable to adults. My wife and I have visited the park as adults since it opened. We have taken grandchildren on several visits but that has not caused any less enjoyment as adults.
Backstage tours are great and should be considered. (Children cannot go on those tours.)

My wife and I went countless times before we had our daughter, and we always had a great time. There are so many different attractions from rides to shows to street performances to enjoy. MK itself has two great parades to see, not to mention the fireworks show at night. There will be a lot of construction going on at DHS with the building of Toy Story and Star Wars land, but there will still be enough to do there to keep you busy (especially if you haven't been in a while).

I would spend as much time as you can researching the different attractions you want to see, making any FPs you want, and finding out which attractions are going to be closed for refurbishment.

My wife and I go go with out our Kids often lol and we live in NC. Full Disclosure we just got back 13-19 December with everyone 6 of us in total which was basically our Christmas. While I enjoy taking the Kids and Family..1 11 Year old Boy, 14 year old girl, 21 year old Girls and a Mother in Law...this changes the dynamic of the trip. My wife and I have a very Disneyesque symbiotic relationship we move through the crowds with ease as we know where we're going and the best way to get there....add four more people and things slow down and kids will be kids and have different agendas add a MIL and the "management factor" increases 400% and that gets fatiguing.

My wife and I enjoy being in the Disney Bubble, we like to have a sit down meal every evening so I work our days in the parks around that meal..for instance we usually prefer eating dinner somewhere on the Monorail line as sit down options in the MK are not our favorite although if you haven't done Cinderellas Royal Table, Be Our Guest or Skipper's Canteen Id at least try it. We usually are there to see Rope drop and then work our way through the parks heading toward Adventure Land first (most folks run to SDMT/Anna and Elsa/Tomorrow-land. We can hit the Jungle Cruise/Pirates/Splash/Big Thunder/Haunted mansion with very low wait times, (Wife is an avid Pin Trader and we then work our way through various shops/cast members Country Bears /Tiki Room and the like..all at our pace...(Get the Memory Maker in advance and take advantage of all the great photo opportunities) we just enjoy the sights and sounds..we work our way to Fantasy land I usually have a SDMT fastpass for afternoon and work our way through by this time the 3PM Festivial of Fantasy Parade is rolling around we may or may not watch..riding rides if not and then we depart for our dinner usually at 530 and a nice 2 hour break we are back at the Magic Kingdom refreshed for a night of fun...we hit tommorowland..and work our way back through Fantasyland and, I like to watch the Magic memories and you so we catch one of those before heading back towards adventure land or hitting those things we want to do over..I could give a schedule for all the parks we do but the main point is there is a freedom being there as an adult couple in that magical place that you wont have with kids and family and we look forward to those trips far more. In fact the two of us are heading back in April for the Star Wars Half Marathon and cant wait to get there.

Congrats! We honeymooned at Disney this past fall and even though it's become a yearly tradition, we certainly had the most fun this time around!

With your 4.5 park days, I'd recommend going to all four parks to get a fresh experience every single day. With your .5 day, I'd go to a park you'd think you'd want more time at...most likely MK or EPCOT?

I've also visited Universal this year and really only found the Harry Potter stuff to be worthwhile...but so do many people...so count on it being the most crowded areas of the parks.

As a party of adults, you most likely have the ability to move faster, and more freely if you wish. We love jumping around to all our favorite ig attractions, then spending the hotter/busier afternoons relaxing at shows, nearby resorts, or just on a bench with a nice view in the parks. :)

Have fun!

Welcome to the boards and congrats! You will be able to move around and navigate the parks with only the two of you much easier than with others. Behind the scenes tours are fun and interesting for sure. One of things we like to do is resort hop to look at the various shops, lounges, etc. and without the kids we can go at our own pace. Same goes for the parks. You can go to the countries in World Showcase and see what they have to offer both with food and merchandise. Plenty of places to sit and relax while enjoying each others company. Even the boat rides from resorts/parks are appealing as adults. WDW will still make you feel like a kid again and being in the bubble for even a few days is great as an adult only trip. Bottom line is enjoy your time there with your significant other and it will all be magical!

Try the behind the seeds tour at Epcot. You have to make reservations. I have been on it twice. It is very interesting. It shows you the fish farms and greenhouses that make up the Land pavilion.

Wild Africa trek is a great one if you like animals you get much more up close and personal than on the safari ride
Hope you are ok with heights though as you go across a rope bridge high above the alligators

Thank you all for all your great tips! My type A personality wants to have every minute planned out so it is hard for me to just go and do without a game plan. Thank goodness for my sweet man who has the guts to tell me to chill out.

We have gone multiple times without our DD. We usually go to a park early in the day, go back and get cleaned up for nice dinner, then go back to a park if we feel like it. Granted this is how we still plan when our daughter goes since she's 18, but it is easier to get out the door with just two adults. Congrats, and enjoy every moment of your Disneymoon!

Go to the universal forum on here for advice on universal. A lot of good advice over there .

We just went on our first adults only trip this summer and it was AWESOME! We para-sailed over Bay Lake. It was so cool seeing rides and other landmarks from 600ft up! We also took a night-time carriage ride at POR....that was so relaxing ....probably 2 things we wouldn't do with our kids;)
