Has anyone ever stayed here? I found a really good deal for the dates we are going to be at WDW and was wondering if it is a good place. also is it well within walking distance to Downtown Disney?
We stayed at the Grosvenor for our honeymoon (2001) and twice since then, most recently the week before Thanksgiving. The difference was, we booked this last trip through Priceline.com -- never again! Priceline rooms are not in the tower section; and are in the section of the Grosvenor akin to a motel where you pull up outside in your car and walk ten steps to your door. Blecchh! Luckily I called ahead to try and find out where our rooms were -- and after speaking with the hotel manager's secretary, they were able to upgrade us as there was availability. We've had in the past the tower rooms overlooking the parks (incredible view of fireworks as stated previously). We splurge on the valet parking so our car is always ready when we are. Rooms are clean, request for firmer pillows was honored -- I would return to the Grosvenor again as the time we spend in the room is minimal. I'd rather spend the $$ saved on food, souveniers etc. Is the decor a bit careworn? Yes, but you know, I enjoy being so close to downtown disney.
I know this thread is old but ... I stayed at the Grovesnor once and it wasn't bad. The only negative thing I thought was the bus situation and even that wasn't TOO bad unless you are completely or unless you stay from open to close and at the end of the day youre so tired you might fall forwards and die. The location is great. It is literally across the street from DTD and was really a great thing for us when we stayed. The night we went to MGM, after Fantasmic.. all the restaurants are closed! We didn't know what we were gonna do.. but good thing we were right next to DTD and were able to eat something there. It's a little old but if you're like us, and all you do is go to your room to sleep and relax...then I think it's perfect if they have a good deal.
Ps. - Every night I would go to the jacuzzi (they don't seem to mind if youre in the pool area as long as you're not being ridiculously loud) and I would meet a lot of cool people. Kids from other states and babes everywhere I don't remember being able to enjoy myself at night at an on-site resort since everything pretty much shuts down at midnight.
