We are booked here this month and are staying for a weekend. There have been some terrible reviews and I am wondering if any of you have stayed there and what you thought of it. I would also like to know about the transportation, any advise, how often are they, etc? Thanks!!

I have had wonderful experiences there all but once, and that one time had to do with my arriving very late for check-in due to a five hour flight delay, so I couldn't get the non-smoking tower room that I wanted, I instead had to get a smoking room which they had housekeeping go and scrub down completely to get rid of the smell for us.

The transportation buses leave for the parks every 15 minutes, except for the Animal Kingdom bus that leaves every 30 minutes. The Grosvenor is the last stop for the transport buses out of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd, so expect to find a fair number of people already on the bus. When you are dropped off at the parks, you will be exiting the bus in a specially designated section of the parking lot and you will be looking when you return to the bus, for space #26 as this is the one for the resort buses. It will not drop you the same place as the Disney Resort Buses do. I have to say that I really like having the breakfast buffet there since I can usually eat and drink enough to last me until dinner if I have a light snack in the afternoon. If you have anyone in your party with food allergies, they are very accomodating, just let them know. The hotel has a bit of a Sherlock Holmes theme and in the restaurant, "Baskervilles," you will find a replica of Sherlock Holmes' study which is very neat. Goofy and Pluto come around to the tables for pictures at breakfast. There is a cafe in the lobby open 24 hours, so if you get thirsty or hungry in the middle of the night, you don't have far to go. Also, if you can get it, try for a tower room overlooking Disney. The view is fantastic and you can watch the fireworks for Illuminations from your room.

I concur. I've stayed at the Grovesner 3 different times before I bought into the DVC. No complaints. I wasn't expecting a 3-star hotel and service, and I think I got what I paid for. In fact, during the Fall, they sometime have tremendous deals (stay 5 nights, get 6th night free, etc).

As was said, get the Tower room if you can that overlooks Downtown Disney. The view in the evening is spectacular.

Not so fast, PrinceAndy'sMom! Read this for a little more background! :lookaroun

and this one, too.

There are some people around here who agree with the Trip Advisor reports.

True, some people have not had great experiences there. But the same can be said for almost any hotel or resort, including Disney owned ones. I've seen people on here that stayed at Wilderness Lodge, for example, that didn't enjoy their stay. Is Wilderness Lodge not a good resort? It's a great resort, but sometimes people have higher expectations or just hit a resort on a bad day or bad week. It can happen. I'm basing my opinions of The Grosvenor on having stayed there about 15 times in my life. IMO one bad experience that was actually the result of a five hour flight delay more than anything on the part of the hotel is a good track record.
