Grocery Store

Hello,

I will be at WDW this weekend and I need some help. Me and a group of people are run/walking the marathon and half marathon and I was wondering what would be the closest grocery store where we can buy bagels, fruit, gatorade, et al.

We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside. If you know what road the store is on that is all the better so I can get directions from map quest. I know some of the resort food courts and gift shops sell these items, but we will be buying for a group of people and don't want to spend a fortune.

Thanks in advance. Only 2 more days!!! :sohappy:

I know there's a walgreens and a publix on 192 (irlo bronson) on that main strip. it's not on disney property but it's not too far if you're going to go and get a bunch of stuff all at once. just follow the signs to 192. (from disney go towards old town, they're on your left)

:animwink:

Do not good to Goodings. It's overpriced and the food is not of a good quality. Either go to Publix or Winn-Dixie.

if you want good grocery... ask a local... like me! lol.. jk. Pay no attention to the location, i'm on vacation right now so I keep it current.

anywho... back to the topic at hand.

Near WDW, if you have a vehicle, there are 3 options for groceries within a near distance.

1st- Goodings in Crossroads. Expensive and dirty... usually crowded as well. Don't bother here.

2nd- Winn-Dixie in Lake Buena Vista, just north-northeast of WDW. It's located on SR 535/Apopka-Vineland Road. Good prices, good selection. Much MUCH cleaner than Goodings.

3rd- Publix on South International Drive. This one is probably the best of the 3. Great selection, friendly staff, extremely clean, and reasonable prices. There's also a few other stores in the shopping center.

Goodings at the Crossroads shopping area is fine. It's just donw the street from the Village Marketplace by way of the Village resorts.

The price is a little higher but it's the closest to the WDW property for where you are staying. They may even have a begal shop now, who knows.

I used to walk there and pick up groceries for my room when I stayed at the Grosvenor.

We always used to go to Goodings for food when we stayed at Port Orleans. It's very close and it's easy to get to. It's a small store, not a Super Stop and Shop, but you're looking for basics not food for a fancy dinner party!! Last year we went to Publix. It was a bigger store with more variety, but it was a much longer ride. It's really up to you what you want to do. It depends on your personal preference

My vote is for the Winn-Dixie. It was a god send and I was thrilled to finally find a grocery store with decent prices. You don't even want to know how much they were selling bottled water for at the "grocery store" at the Boardwalk. For a minute there I thought I had entered Norway or some other expensive country.

I'll have to remember or ask you next time I go for these. Wal-Mart on 192 is a zoo.
