Groceries in checked luggage

Okay, so I have some food allergies and can't eat sugar (and I also don't like spending $10 on breakfast that isn't really anything special) so I'm planning on having breakfast in my room. I've got my oatmeal, sweetener, and cinnamon packed and ready to go. The only thing I'm concerned about is my boxed unsweetened almond milk. I've read on a blog that some people pack boxed milk in their checked luggage with no problems, but I'm a little concerned about ending up with clothes soaked in almond milk. Has anyone ever packed boxed milk in their checked luggage. What's the best way to go about this and keep it from getting squished and exploding?? Thanks!

If you use the Ziplock Freezer bag (they are slightly thicker) then you should use some box tape and fold over the sealed edge and tape it tight. Then tape all edges to they do not fail during the flight. The airline staff have a tendency to just throw luggage as fast as they can and anything inside is in danger of being damaged.

Some other ideas:

Have you thought of having some groceries delivered to the resort? There are a couple where you can order on line, and they can be waiting for you at bell services when you arrive, or they can be delivered to your room after check-in.

If you are thinking of a car service from the Orlando airport, they will all make half-hour grocery store stops at no extra charge. We use this to buy water, soda, snacks, and beer or wine for the room, and what we save on these rather than buying there, makes up for the cost of the car service. (Particularly bringing water bottles to the parks, and having an adult beverage in the room before heading out to dinner)

Another idea, if you are staying on property, is to call the resort and see if they stock what you need. The Disney resorts associated with DVC have quite an assortment

Finally, to avoid damaging your luggage, wrap as others suggest and mail it to yourself at the resort. They will hold a package for you at the front desk for several days, and you can use one of those "if it fits it ships" for one price boxes. We've done that, too.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for suggesting this! I'll definitely do this :)

Since I only need a box of almond milk, I don't really qualify for grocery delivery and it doesn't make sense to pay a $15 fee for a box of milk. I'm taking DME to the resort, so I won't be able to stop on the way, and I'm leaving in two days and I'm not overnighting a box of milk! Hahaha! :D Thank you though! Great advice for someone with more time.

Done it. Used Ziploc Freezer gallon sized bags and packing tape; cushioned it with soft things and made sure that suitcase wasn't too full. No problems here!

Awesome! Thanks!

I didn't even know powdered almond milk was a thing.
