Hello,

In the western portion of the ride we see John Wayne. What movie is that from?

My 14 year old son is trying to watch all the movies shown in the ride....and he calls me the "Disney Geek"...lol

It's actually not from any specific Movie. Clint Eastwood and John Wayne never appeared in the same film.

The John Wayne film shown as a lobby preview is called "The Searchers", and the look is inspired by that. The specific John Wayne Figure is also modeled from that movie, and his lines come from it.

It's one of two scenes that isn't from a specifc film on the ride. The other is where your hijacker goes to get the jewel and is turned into a skeleton. Although the look is very Indiana Jones (and it comes right after that scene), it's not from any specific film.

So the Full List would be:
Footlight Parade
Singin in the Rain
Mary Poppins
The Public Enemy
Alien
Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Tarzan the Ape Man
Casablanca
Fantasia
Wizard of Oz.

Apparently, it is The Searchers. Joh Wayne plays a Civil War vet who spends years looking for his neice. I went through a brief phase where I loved John Wayne (everyone thought it was weird cos I'm only 24 now and this was a few years ago!) and I'm pretty sure I saw this one. His neice gets abducted during a Comanche raid and it's all about John WAyne and some other guys looking for her and trying to get her back.

I do remember it. It was one of my favourites.

Hope that helps!!

It is a great movie, if you are into Westerns as I am. Blame my father. :)

Love GMR, despite its age. It has turned into a celebration of the classic Hollywood in my opinion, of a different time of movie studio production.

Some find it dated. But I personally hope it stays a long time.

What he said. I took a special tour of the GMR, and this is what the tour guide told us about the origin of the scene.

Thanks for all the replies. I will tell him it is called the Searchers. He will be happy with that. He has already watched Public Enemy twice.

GMR is one of his favourites. Goes to show that even young people like the classics

It can also be inferred that it's supposed to be "The Searchers" because that's the John Wayne movie that's in the pre-show.

The scene does borrow heavily from The Searchers, but Clint Eastwood, who is present in the GMR scene, was not in that movie.
