Great Movie Ride - Improved or not?

I'm not a fan at all of the "duller than dishwater" narration of Robert Osborne. It's definitely worse than the previous narration. Geez, Osborne sounds like he wants to be doing anything but the narration for that ride.
Exactly, it spoiled the whole ride, that's how bad it was for me. What the ride needed was some updated scenes and tech, not a really bad voiceover. In my opinion its a step backwards and I really hope this was a stopgap for a real makeover plan.

Finally Finished. Hope you enjoy. :)

This is definitely a step in the right direction. But like others have said, the CM feels very much out of place. And for all the cuts they made to the CM narration, I can't believe they opted to keep "I see dead people".

Fingers crossed they invest some of the DHS overhaul budget into cleaning/updating/repairing this attraction, and returning it to its proper glory.

Thanks for posting this!

For quite a while now the biggest problem I've had with this attraction has been with the narration. I just can't believe for a second that some 18 year old counts a Busby Berkeley movie as one of her favorites. And the acting in the western/gangster scenes is just awful. I felt the same thing about Living With the Land - even though having a recorded narration is a step back from a live host, that live host was usually so terrible that the recording is a great improvement.

The narration with the cast members never bother me and the new version does feel the CMs are out of place. Being a film student going into this attraction gives me trills since it captures what makes those movies great for the general audience.

If you ever been to a film school, you'd be surprised at the people liking some of these films at a young age. When I met one of my friends, she was a 2nd year student in film. One of her favorite films was Adam's Rib. Another was Modern Times. I could give the imagination that the CMs doing the job are film students since the college program Disney does attract film students.

Small sample size in an environment dedicated to film. The general population will slowly not have exposure to classic films with out the introduction to them from an outside source.

I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just saying that the average young CM doing the narration on this ride does nothing to convince me that they've ever in their life seen a Busby Berkeley movie.

Not denying that, but I also think the ride allows people to be introduced to them. The general population knows of the Golden Age of film but they also have not watched any without something to peak their interest in it. That is just my reason why I think the ride works.

That's true but maybe I just get good CM doing it since it appears like that to me a majority of the time. There have been a few times on the ride I really noticed they were reading from a script but I would say it would only be 1/4 of the time. Of course, I only visit the ride a few times every couple of years so I can't say how it is typically.

Didn't like the automated narration at all, but I thought the extra TCM touches to the preshow and final scene were good. I half-expected the robber sequence to not happen, because it would feel so out of place. But of course, it did. The cast members just felt like spectators. Everything just felt really mechanical, with minimal human touch, which is one of the reasons I can't really get into rides like it's a small world.

The old movies are part of movie history, I would assume that most folks go into the ride expecting some old cinema history to be portrayed. I like the new version.
I would redo Alien, Tarzan, and casablanca.

No they didn't change the sets. They did update and improve some effects.

Thanks. I watched the video- the narrator does sound bored. Perhaps they will update sets one day, but with all the other work I doubt it will be anytime soon. If the line is short, we might give it another look next month when there.
