Great Moments of Disney Animation

Okay Everybody....It's late and I was inspired by nostalgia...

I was reading a column about the ten saddest moments in Disney Animation, and i couldn't help but remenisce upon the short film at the end of the Magic of Animation tour at the Disney MGM Studios. This is the film that was probably no more than 10 minutes in length, but showed the greatest moments in Disney Animation: Bambi's mother getting shot, Mufasa's Death, The Ballroom Dance from B&TB, Etc, etc.

Now, here's what I'm getting at. Is that short film still on the tour, after all the changes that were made? I know "Back to Neverland" the Robin Williams/Walter Cronkite one is gone...but is this one still there? Secondly, Does anyone know where I can find a downloadable copy anywhere. I know that this aspect may be difficult because of the strict no video/pictures policy in place on the tour.

The finale film is no more. It's replaced by an optional Animation Academy where folks can learn to draw a couple characters.

Too bad. The tour ends where we got to "see the animators," bascially - - very weak.

Shame.

Boooo!!!! It was so awesome to see the animators and their desks. Wonder if the Animation Dept will ever be revived down there. It's a great attraction, IMHO.

I've been looking everywhere for a copy/bootleg of that film... that was the whole reason I went on the Animation Tour. It had me in tears every time...

I would have to agree, the Animation Tour is no longer a must do for me. The combination of watching Animators hard at work and the Great Moments of Disney Animation film was a highlight of every trip to the Studios. Your right Kirsten, I don’t remember anyone walking out of that movie and not having a tear, myself included. But now, with both gone the tour is ruined, in fact I don’t think I’ll be visiting again until after its next rehab. Just one more example of quality being replaced with something inferior for the sake of change!

Awwww Maaan. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to hook up my DVDs and VHS to my computer and edit up my own version. Will the quality be the same? More than likely...NO.

Plus, Isn't the Animation Academy at DisneyQuest? Did they take that out and put it over at the Studios? Or do two now exist?
