Great Disney Moments

To offset the bad things that happened in WDW thread( no offense ) I wanted to start a great things that happened in WDW. A month ago ( When does the MAJOR withrawal end ? )we went to WDW for 11 days. While we were there we went to 50's Prime Time. I sent in an email about the great service we received and today I received an email back from the waiter. He continued to keep it in the spirit of Prime Time ( "Don't stay out after dark. You know how Mom worries.")and thanked me for writing. He even mentioned some things that happened when we ate there and how long it had been since we had been at WDW before this trip.
Another thing did not happen to me but was relayed by someone I know. When his daughter was about 5, she lost a tooth at Typhoon Lagoon. It would not stop bleeding, so his wife took her to the first aid station. They took down the information of where they were staying and in what room. When they returned that night night to their room, there was an envelope on her bed with her name on it. Inside were a couple of Disney Dollars and with it was a small stuffed toy. There was a note inside the envelope that said that the tooth fairy knows where you are even in DisneyWorld.:dazzle:

Well, one of my great Disney moments was from this past trip. My mom is a celiac and has a hard time finding food to eat on vacation. We had heard rumors before leaving that the Liberty Inn serves Gluton-free pizza. When we arrived for dinner, we asked and they did have them. To see the happiness on my mom's face because it was something she was so hungry for, but couldn't eat was priceless. Thank you to all of the wonderful CM's who help people with food allergies when they are at the parks!

I have 2 stand-out memories that may not appeal to everyone, but made my children feel like they were the most important people in the world.

21 years ago we were eating a character breakfast on the Empress Lily. Me, my husband, my parents, and my sons - 4 and 1. It was my 4 year old's birthday. All the characters marched around clapping while the CMs sang and they put a candle in his waffle. Then Goofy came to the table, picked him up and gently gave him his "birthday spanking". I suppose they can't do that anymore.

The next time was a breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I was at this time a single mom. My children were 2,7,and 10. Prince John from Robin Hood was there. It was January and the place was virtually empty. All the characters danced and gave my children attention above and beyond anything I could ever expect. Prince John took my 2 year old daughter by the hand and began to walk away. Noelle never knew a stranger, so off she went. I was keeping an eye on them, not concerned really. Then they disappeared through a door marked for CMs only ! I wasn't sure what I should do at that point, but then they reappeared and she had a cupcake ! Then he walked over to the hostess phone, picked it up, used a pen to push the buttons, and handed the receiver to my 7 year old son! Turns out it was room service ! Jordan is 22 now, and he still talks about Prince John calling room service !

I dont really have a story about a CM it was more of my girl friend who later became a cm. Well she had never been to disneyworld and always saw the old ABC specials when the sitcom families would go to haunted mansion. When we planned our trip that was the first thing she wanted to do. well seeing her face when we wale into MK for the first time was the beest feeling ever, when we finally made it to the mansion i was pointing off to tom sawyer island i felt something hit me like a train in my knee. well i had walked into the fire hydrent outside of the mansion and my knee instantly swelled up and it was bruised already. so my girlfriend was concerned about my kneww but because she was so happy to be there i limped onto the ride and around the park all day. but when the air conditioning from any of the rides hit me my god did that hurt!

The first time I went to WDW was when my daughter was 4. We walked into MK just in time for the parade and they had just roped off the place for people to pass through. We were right in front. During the whole trip my husband said it was just as much fun watching my face as my daughter's. I was so amazed by it all. I had NO idea of the size of WDW. I hadn't originally been that excited about the trip. Now I'm obsessed !:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

I have so many great disney moments that it would be hard to just pick one! I've seen great cast members who go to great lengths to try to help out people who they definately don't know. And as a former cast member, I now understand why. It's not because they have to, but because they honestly want to. Working at a magical place makes you want give away as much magic as possible. I once asked a cast member if they sold any t-shirts with Stitch on it (this was very soon after the movie came out) They didn't, but before giving me that answer, this cast member called all over the place to places where she thought might be able to help. No one could, but her efforts were appreciated just as much. Then there was the time my brother's wheelchair was stolen. The event itself made us very angry, but the cast member who helped us try to find another one made it better. That cast member also helped us to find ours which we did. They really turned a bad experience into a good one.

But, probably my favorite good moment was at 50's Prime Time Cafe in November 2002. Our waiter was "dad", but the waitress at the section beside us was Aunt Linda. Aunt Linda was great! She was very interactive with us even though her table was the table beside us. She even got me in trouble with dad twice. Once for elbows on the table (which I had to put my nose on the wall with the rest of the restaurant shaking their fingers and saying "no elbows on the table"). The second one was for talking on the cell phone at the table (which she took my phone and told first my boyfriend, then my best friend that I was eating and couldn't have calls. It wasn't my fault people kept calling  :lookaroun ). Then she told dad and I had to stand in front of the restaurant and sing (along with motions) I'm a Little Teapot. It was a lot of fun! We were a little surprised when Aunt Linda remembered us (and my name!) in January 2003. But we were completely blown away when she still remembered us in November 2003 a year later! She still remembered that I got in "trouble" for talking on the phone and everything! That's probably my best/most memorable individual experience.

Okay since it just said Disney Moments, I'll try a non WDW one.

My best moment was walking under the train station at Euro Disneyland (that's what is was called then) on Opening Day and hearing "When You Wish Upon a Star" playing as the background music as it opened onto Main Street.

There had been a whole range of challenges to get there (train strikes) that morning that is a totally different story, but walking under that building and hearing that song totally set the mood for a moment I'll never forget.

A dream come true

A few years ago, my family and I took a trip, and for some reason, I felt like the magic was fading. Maybe I'd grown used to it? I decided I wanted to look through all the resorts since I'd never been to any, and I guess my parents obliged since I was graduating soon. I was planning to go alone, but my family came with me. Now, this was the night that Wishes was premiering, and I figured I'd just have to wait a few years to see it, since we weren't going to the Magic Kingdom that night and leaving the next day.

Well, we went through the Epcot hotels, and it was magical. I imagined I was a guest at one of the hotels. We decided to top it off with a trip to the Grand Floridian. My youngest sister was really hungry, and she didn't want to go, but we decided to just check it out for a few minutes. So we're taking pictures, and my parents are approached by two women who work for the Disney Cruise Line. Their employees were supposed to go on a pontoon cruise in front of the Magic Kingdom for the premiere of Wishes, but were really tired and had to be on the ship early the next day. So they invited us on the boat, which was really exciting.

There was a cast member on the college program who navigated and hosted us, as well as the voice of the monorail, Matthew Hansen (?). The two women even brought snacks for my sister! So we floated out at night, past the Wilderness Lodge, and passed by the Electrical Water Pageant, another facet of Disney I had wanted to experience but never had.

We drew closer to the Contemporary and finally stopped in front of the Magic Kingdom. There we could hear Julie Andrews and watch the fireworks, although we could barely hear the audio. Afterward we took a picture and we all couldn't believe what had just transpired.

I was so pumped. This was unbelievable, combined everything I ever wanted to experience, was the perfect ending to the vacation, and really drove home the magic! I regret that I never sent the pictures to Disney Magazine, and don't have the chance anymore.
