I think this is a great idea..

heck I always walked the path from EPCOT to DHS..
Same. Everytime I was on the Friendship boats it took longer and they either had busted a/c or vibrated like a...toy. I'll stick with walking and beat the boats there Everytime.

I'm really looking forward to this path. Should have a nice different view of the lake too.

To me taking the boats is not about the time to get there, it's just a way to keep some mileage off me feet!

I'm curious, since this is so close to the lagoon, is it roped off to the water? Is there a chance of an alligator coming up on the path? I still think about that boy and my heart hurts all over for his family. This post is not meant as alarmist in any way, just curious how safe people feel it is. I think it is a much needed way to get from here to there....

The incident happened when the boy got into the water. Only beach areas have had fences added at the waters edge to keep people out the water. There are plenty of other places around WDW where the path is alongside water (such as the DHS to Epcot walkway, most of Port Orleans, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs resorts) but as there is no beach, people don't get in the water from these pathways.

This is a broken image. Can someone with access repost the drawing?

Funnily enough, one of the construction workers working on the site has been posting videos / photos to the public "SnapMap" on Snapchat. If you open that up and tap on the location, you can see this very exciting Disney parks construction from a worker's perspective.
Any screencaps? I can’t find them

This says it better:

One more noteworthy tidbit... The e-mail correspondence from the permit application mentioned an "RCID Address Finder" - I'd never heard of that before and it sounded interesting so I went digging to see if I could find it, and sure enough, it's a really snazzy little tool. It already has the information for this project loaded into it and confirms that there will be two new bridges - a stationary bridge crossing the small canal near the Sago Cay GF building, and then a large swing bridge crossing the canal that's used for the water pageant and riverboat maintenance.

Below is a link to the tool. @danlb_2000, I'm sure you'll have some fun with it, assuming it's new to you. You can zoom and and get the address of basically every structure across Disney property, even all the individual Epcot kiosks, haha.
