Grand Floridian Question

We'll be staying at the GF Concierge from 6/14-6/22 in the main building. Information about the best room, room locations, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Nansafan,

Room 4402 has a good view of the MK fireworks. I stayed there in March. It's also far away from the concierge food setup, which makes it quiet.

If you don't mind me asking, is there a particular reason you're staying main building concierge at the GF? They've cut back on the food offerings in the GF a great deal recently. Besides the room view, there seemed to be little difference between the Sugarloaf and main building amenities. My sister and her family stayed at the Sugarloaf, also concierge, at the same time I was at the main building. She was served the exact same food, and had access to the same level of concierge service, but her room was about $150 per night less than mine. The question I'd ask is whether the ability to view the evening fireworks is worth $150 per night. Just my opinion, not necessarily that of the Unofficial Guide.

Sincerely,

Len

Len-
It could be about the monorail access....
but I agree with you...if it doesn't matter...fireworks...monorail...why pay an extra $150.....

Check out rooms in the 4420's...this view also features the beach, pool, wedding pavilion, and distant POLY....some even have a view of the monorail...

man you guys are so lucky....not only are you at conceirge level....but it's conceirge at the Grand Floridian....man oh man....the jealousy is rising in DisneyDudette

hope you have a great trip...

Hi lentesta -

I don't know why we're staying at the main building. I believe our travel agent suggested the main building. (Our travel agent is an old family friend and a WDW aficianado as well so we trust her advice.) I did not make the reservations. We will be at WDW for my bro's 40th birthday and he made the ressies, arrangements and is paying the lion's share of the trip. We've stay Poly concierge before and at the Tower Club at the Contemporary. Our fav resort it the Poly. We hit all the moderates as well. Never tried the GF. We did look at the BWI and YC/BC but we really have fondness for a monorail hotel when staying for more than a couple days.

disneydudette - thanks for the link. wdwig is another of my fav websites as well.

Thanks for both of you for the room info.

Hello, Nansafan....

DW and I stayed on a conceirge floor in the main building of the GF for our honeymoon in '99. We actually were in a limited access corridor which was on the second floor, but you had to go up to the third floor, then walk a ways down the corridor, then take another elevator down a floor before you could get to your room. It was kind of a pain, but it was _really_ quiet. We overlooked the lagoon and Cinderella Castle was front-and-center from our balcony. At night, you could see the castle turning colors and the firewords. It was a wonderful room and the conceirge staff was just incredible. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Well worth the money.

Here is a picture of our view: http://www.pbase.com/image/6707105 There are other GF pics there, just click the "Grand Floridian '99" link at the top of the page.

Enjoy and please, bring back pics. :)

Thanks for sharing the pics sigsegv. I'm pretty bad with a camera but I'll give it a shot. As I said, it'll be my bro's 40th birthday so we definitely need some footage of him walking through the park with the appropriate birthday pin.
