Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge?

The wife and I are planning a short trip (3 nights) in May to celebrate our anniversary. I would like to get some opinions on which resort most prefer - Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge. Thanks.

Happy Anniversary

If you both like the outdoors then Wilderness Lodge would be great but if you think the wife would like some romance then I suggest the Grand Floridian. The Grand Floridian is a wonderful airy place and the theme is wonderful with the whole turn of the century thing. The Wilderness Lodge is very rustic and if you enjoy nature and cozziness then this would be the place for you! Both resorts can do special deliveries to your room to celebrate your anniversay like flowers and chocolate covered strawberries and champagne/wine. The Disney Florist can create a special basket for you with whatever you want or they do offer romance baskets as well. Check them out and I am sure that your lovely wife will cherish the memory forever.:)

I agree...apples and oranges. BUT...

The GF is on the monorail, which will be fun and easy. (The WL has a boat, but it takes a bit longer.)

The GF is also more romantic; the restaurants, the atmosphere, etc.

But to let you know, I'm from Wisconsin, so the WL holds little to no appeal for me. It would be like taking an hour trip to the UP (Upper Penninsula, for those who haven't been :) )...

HAVE FUN!! Happy Anniversary!:animwink:

I prefer WL. I like the woods feel and its peacefull. I also feel that the GF can be a bit too stuffy for my liking. But for a free stay i would goto GF.

If you have the means, I would definitely recommend the GF. It's right on the monorail, great views of the castle/fireworks and Seven Seas Lagoon. The restaurants are romantic - Victoria & Alberts ($$), Narcooses, Citricos and Garden Grove Cafe. You can get massages at the spa and stroll on the beach. It's nice to sit in the lobby and listen to the piano.

WL is nice, too, just more of a "woodsy" feel. I like Artist Point and taking the boat to the MK, although GF has that, too.

Depends what you want and what your wife enjoys. A lot of people find the GF stuffy (although, I don't) - I love it!

Have to agree with everyone. Apples and Oranges. Romance abounds at Grand Flo. Beautiful view of Cinderella Castle at night if you get a castle view room. White sand beaches, nice walkway to the Poly. It is on the resort monorail beam so no direct bus service to MK or Epcot. Boat service provided to MK by the small launches. Bus service provided to Downtown, AK and Studios. Disney florist will indeed provide you with a beautiful arrangement if you plan in advanced. You can rent out the Grand One, a yacht that docks at the Grand Flo and cruises out around Bay Lake, and Seven Seas Lagoon. There's the fireworks cruise barges that sit out on Bay Lake and give you a good view of Wishes.

Congrats and have fun!!!:animwink:

I have stayed at both and can tell you depending what you want to do is the deciding factor.

If you plan on doing the Hoopie doo dinner show, boating, parasailing, fishing, great themed pool area -- then do Wilderness Lodge. They offer the a Water taxi service AROUND Bay Lake. I would hop on the taxi to the Contemporary and get on the monorail there or I would just take the taxi to MK.

If you just want easy access to the parks with a great view of the fireworks at times then the GF is great. Both give you great views of the night time water parade.

Both have their perks. I think I'd choose Wilderness Lodge though - it's more cozy and I love the boat ride to and from the MK. The monorail is definitely a perk of the other though.

I've stayed at both and liked WL better.

We have a new room category at the Grand now. It is a guaranteed MK view. The views are breathtaking. If you do the Grand, I would highly suggest booking a MK view if you can. It's worth the premium for a romantic getaway.

I've stayed at both resorts and they are both wonderful, but my favorite is the Grand Floridian so it has my vote. It is beautiful and I love its location. As Goof29 mentioned, go for the MK view. We booked it for our trip in December. But I think whatever you decide you can't go wrong with these two resorts. Let us know what you decide and have fun!
