Hello, I will be attending Universal's GradBash this Friday. Has anyone been to this in past years? What can I expect crowd and line wise?

Well that was an interesting night to say the least. Our school had everything planned out and ready for Grad Bash. The event started at 7 P.M., so they had two buses scheduled to pick up all 53 students and 5 chaperones at 5:45. At around 6:15 ONE bus showed up, we got to the parks around 7:30. Since we entered the parks over at Fear Factor, we started out by going to MIB. The wait was short, about 15 minutes. I was the third highest score in my car. We were headed towards RotM, but when we saw the line we decided to come back later for it. We met up with one of our teachers after this and decided to ride Jimmy Neutron so my friend Adam could conquer his fear of the Fairly Oddparents. That was a walk-on. Following that we headed into IoA. Our first stop there was The Cat in the Hat. My math teacher said she was ready to puke after it, and looked the part as well. Luckily she held her composure. We worked our way into Marvel Island after that, and rode Dr. Doom. There was an instance of some girls climbing over the railings and cutting in line here, but nothing was done about it. We had one kid in our group who was afraid of heights when riding Dr. Doom, but he managed to conquer his fears and felt that the ride was "awesome."

We made our way to Jurassic Park to do the River Adventure. The line wasn't too bad for this, about a 15 minute wait. One girl in our group, Laura was apparently afraid of dinosaurs, and wasn't too thrilled about this ride. After that we headed to the Dueling Dragons. We waited about 45 minutes and got to the hydraulic gates to wait for a car to pull in. Then a bunch of strobe lights went off. A fire alarm. We had to evacuate the ride right at the gate. It was pretty disappointing, especially when it was more than likely some stupid kid pulling an alarm. After that waste of time, we found food. It was pretty terrible, even for standard theme park fare.

At this point we only had about an hour and a half left. We headed back towards the Mummy to get in one last ride. On the way there we passed to concert stage, some band was playing "Last Child" by Aerosmith. There was a 75 minute wait, but the person outside was telling people there was a three hour wait. I assume they were trying to keep the lines down, but a three hour wait wasn't even possible since it was 12:30 and the park closed at 2. After we wrapped around a large portion of the queue, went through the outside area, and back into the first indoor room, a group of kids tried to cut in line. They succeeded and continued on, despite the boos and jeers from those around them. When we got up to the final room where the loading station is, we tipped off one of the attendants about what had happened. They were immediately escorted off the ride. There was a good amount of cheering and we were thanked by other groups of kids we didn't even know. That was pretty cool, and so was the ride.

Overall it was a pretty good night. The Dueling Dragons thing was pretty disappointing, and we didn't go on Spiderman or the Hulk either because of the crowds, but I'll come back later and take care of that.

It was crowded, but fun.

One other thing I noticed was that nearly every employee working the event appeared to be of Asian descent. I assume they are bringing in employees to train them for the new Singapore park.

There are tons of Asian employees now. Perhaps that's what they're doing.
