could someone explain grad nights to me? i was reading on snopes about deaths at disneyland and alot of them were 17 18 and 19 year olds being stupid. in your opinions should grad nights be discontinued due to the fact that alot of 17 18 and 19 year olds don't follow the rules and do dumb things? http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/deaths.htm

also does anyone know if someone has been hurt/ killed on grad nights at wdw?

I graduated from high school in 1997 and my GRAD NIGHT was the best experiance ever (besides meeting the love of my life)! Times have indeed changed since I attended GRAD NIGHT. I remember visiting 2 parks that year celebrating GRAD NIGHT at WDW and MGM w/ a red carpet greeting at MGM with CM'S acting as poporatzzi asking us for our autographs as we walked the red carpet with confetti raining down on us. We had a BLAST! Aaliyah and AZ YET performed along with some rock band(im not into rock).Everyone was well behaved and very well dressed (disney gave us a dress code). Anyhow, GRAD NIGHT was the highlight of my senior year of high school. I think that DISNEY should continue it and the schools should assure that students who have exhibited poor behavior/suspensions ect. shouldnt be allowed to attend.

I think grad nights are absolutely retarded. I myself am 19 and can't stand other people my age. Not only that, but many people my age don't seem to understand the Disney magic, and I can't imagine a bunch of teenaged idiots would make my favorite place in the world very fun.

I had fun, but that was because I was with corinne, and a bunch of other Disney fans and musical theatre people too. I don't think anyone has the right to say they should be discontinued other than disney. I didn't hear of any deaths at Gradnight latley, can't speak for other years, but Yes, kids will be stupid, and it dosn't matter where they are some will always be You know what's I still think they should do them, and just enjoy the fun times with your friends and ignor the others. :D

i guess im the old fart in here since i did my grad night in 1989-lol. i was really excited to go but when i got there it quickly faded.i only rode 3 or 4 attractions due to the huge lines-2 to 3 hours for space mountain.i didnt notice any real trouble makers or problems just was very busy and i remember getting on the bus at 5 am to go home and a super hottie cheerleader sitting next to me asked to wear my suit jacket because she was cold and then passed out on my shoulder:D too bad her football player boyfreind didnt find that too amusing:dazzle:

I really want to do a GRAD NIGHT my senior year. The video Ryland posted seemed so much fun. I have a few questions though...
  1. When does Disney do them? I know this one was in April, but do they ever do them in May? We graduate in May and want to take our Senior Trip there, so that would be so nice.
  2. Does it cost extra? I know things like MNSSHP and MVMCCP cost extra, so it just seems this would too. If it does, generally how much is it?
  3. Do they require teachers/chaperones to be AT the park with you?
  4. Does every park do GRAD NIGHT or just MK? I know some one said MGM did one, but do they still? That one sounded great!
Thanks a MILLION to all off you who answer my questions. I still have a while (2 years) to wait, but I'd just like to know. :animwink:

I should have ditched my friends and hung out with ya'll for the rest of the night. I don't think we did anything after the fireworks.

1. Near the end of April. It doesn't matter when you graduate. Almost everyone graduates in May.
2. Grad Nite is a special event and therefore has its own ticket. I'm not sure of the cost because we did more than Grad Nite.
3. Yes, Chaperones are required to be there, but they don't have to stay with you. They're allowed to do their own thing.
4. Just Magic Kingdom does "Grad Nite". Some schools opt to lengthen their stay by visiting other parks. See my trip report in my signature.

Enjoy your last two years. I'm nervous about college :(

I would love to go to WDW with a few friends, but never to a grad night. I really don't like the majority of kids my age as they are far too immature.

Thanks a billion for that link STR8! I am totally going to have to find a way to get there, maybe it'll be the week of our Spring Break. I can always hope so!
Well, I could be wrong but I don't think the allow individuals, I believe everyone must be with a group such as a school.

I meant I have to find a way to get my class there. We have a great class sponser, teachers, and parents. Hopefully a different class president to get all this done.

Also, something the site can't answer...Will "non-Disney people" like this? I only have two other "Disney People" in my group so I don't want evryone else to be miserable while we are having fun.
