Hey there,

I have wanted to buy a gps watch to help keep track of miles, pace & heart rate. However I didn't want to break the bank. Finally decided on the Garmin Forerunner 110 because it seems pretty simple and gets great reviews for accuracy and speedy satellite connection. Anyone out there use this particular model? What's your thoughts on it? Thanks for your help!

I have the Forerunner 405. It finds the satellites quickly. Mileage and pace have always seemed accurate to me. I was considering the 110 also but decided to go with the 405 when I found it on sale for the same price. I have a Garmin GPS in my car and also a field & stream model. I have been happy with all three of my Garmin products.

I also have the 405.....got it refurbished for the same price as the 110...and the 405 has "virtual partner"....you can set in the pace you want, and it tells you if you are ahead or behind your "partner" running that pace. GREAT for runs and races

I've had the 110 since December. I love it! Its been perfect for exactly the reasons you listed. It connects to the satellites quickly, the connection have been really reliable and its really simple to use. I like that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the other models. Garmin connect is fantastic too. The only problem I've had with it has been connecting the watch to the computer to upload my info. The small tines on the charging clip don't always align easily with the little metal pads on the back of the watch. It can be a bit frustrating at times getting it to line up correctly.

That’s interesting. On my 405 model I just plug a usb stick into my computer and the watch uploads the data wirelessly to Garmin Connect. It’s very easy to do.

Does the 110 show current pace? That's the one big problem I have read about it.

That's how my old polar heart rate monitor worked as well. The 110 has a spring loaded clip that plugs into the USB port on one end and clamps onto the watch on the other end.

It only does average pace per lap but you can choose your lap distance, minimum is .25 miles I think.

Received my Garmin Forerunner 110 on Friday evening and used it for my Saturday morning run. I love it. It was so easy to set up! Charged it overnight and it was ready to go Saturday morning. Took about 30 seconds or so to connect to a satellite and then it was up & running. I know this sounds nuts but I think it made my run better! I was able to know exactly what I was doing and was a huge motivation to go a little further and a little faster!

It's not crazy at all! My battery was dead this morning so I had to run without mine and it reminded me of how much I improved once I got my Garmin. I was pretty lost without it today! I'm so glad you're loving it!

On a related note- make sure to disconnect your watch from your pc after uploading your data. Sometimes it prevents the watch from going into powersave mode and drains the battery. At least that's been my experience and I've maybe finally learned my lesson lol

Glad to know I'm not crazy!! I'll be sure to remember that. I didn't have a chance to upload my run in the computer but hope to this evening! Thanks for the tip!
